I'm not sure this is the best place to put this but I've tried several times to minimize my alerts to what it used to be which was only if someone commented on (or now liked) one of my layouts. Now however, it gives me an alert every time someone posts to "Member Galleries" which is a lot of alerts and really I don't need to see that! I've looked at preferences and it says I'm not watching any galleries so not sure where to look to switch those off. Any advice?
this should help make it calmer there is, in https://the-lilypad.com/forum/account/alert-preferences here are my settings, so no more follow up alerts after I comment, unless they mention me specifically The red is what I checked in GAllery! Likes your Layout Someone likes your Layout Likes your album Someone likes your album Shares an album Someone shares an album with you Rates your media or album Someone rates your media or rates your album Comments on your media or album Someone posts a comment on your media or on your album Likes your comment Someone likes a comment you made Mentions you in a comment Someone mentions you in a comment
The key for me with this specific alert was to "Unwatch Layout" after I commented on it in the gallery. It's in the top right above the layout. By doing this, I wasn't watching for comments... but I would get notifications if someone liked my comment or quoted me.
And what I've found is that if you are currently getting alerts when someone posts in a certain gallery, you have to go to that gallery and turn off the alert (unwatch category - top right, just above the layouts). I was going crazy a couple of days ago when I turned off the alert in preferences, but was still getting notifications. Once it's on, it's on (even if you change your preference), so you just have to go to the category and "unwatch".
thank you for asking! I was shocked to see almost 100 alerts from 1am to 7am! I don't know how many alerts I'd get in a 24-hour time period!
In addition to what Anne said: In your PREFERENCES (not Alert Preferences) make sure you have NOT ticked to start watching things automatically, unless you really, really want that, and you probably don't. AND, you still need to Unwatch the things that were set to be watched. So if you're still getting alerts about the member gallery, you need to go to the member gallery and unwatch it.
Thanks for asking I was wondering how to turn off all the extra alerts too and couldn't find the place to turn off automatic watching. I was unwatching and then every time I posted a new layout I would get alerts for the member gallery again.
Thank you for this thread!! I couldn't figure out where to not automatically watch the member gallery when I would add something. I think I have it all set... maybe. I guess I'll find out soon enough!
That's exactly what I noticed. I kept checking my preferences to see if they changed & I finally just went to that page & hit unwatch. Good grief.
I don't know how long I spent figuring this out last night. It was frustrating to say the least. It was the once you start watching something changing your preferences doesn't affect it. sad to say, glad I'm not the only one.
Well I unwatched Member Gallery earlier today and after uploading a layout, it started up again, so I assume you have to unwatch it every time you upload?? That seems a little crazy!
In your preferences, check to see if this one is checked: Automatically watch categories that you add media to... and receive email notifications If that one is unchecked, then you shouldn't auto watch a category. Mine is unchecked, and I don't automatically watch every gallery I upload to.
Also, on the left in your account you can see what you are currently watching, and it's easy to uncheck anything you don't want to watch there.
Where is that Courtney? I can't find that in my alert preferences. Mine is still giving me notifications like crazy.
@Heather91 Click on your name at the top. Then on the left hand side, click on "Preferences" it's under the settings category. And you should see it. Then make sure to go to the gallery that is alerting you, and uncheck the "Watch" at the top on the right in pink.
