In my previous tutorial on colouring stamps and brushes @Firstoscartgrouch asked about recolouring with multiple colours/shading. This is done in a similar way via the Effects Dialog. It works the same in all three Affinity packages (Publisher, Designer, and Photo)

In this example I'm using one of the mandalas in the MOC freebie: Oh Fun (doodles and Mandalas) by Little Butterfly Wings.

Here is how to add gradient colour to your stamp/doodle/brush.
    • Select the stamp
    • Open the Layer Effects Dialog
    • Select Gradient Overlay
    • Click the check box next to Gradient Overlay
    GradientEffect1.jpg
By default this will add a linear grayscale gradient to the image.
    GradientEffect1a.jpg
To change this to a different type of gradient
    • click the type drop down box
    • I have selected radial.
    • To change the colour from grayscale to something else, click on the gradient image in the dialog.
    GradientEffect2.jpg
    • Click on the first circle on the colour line
    • Click the colour box that displays below it.
    • The colour dialog then pops up. I have used the sliders to pick a blue colour.
    • You could alternatively use the colour picker as I used in my previous tutorial on colouring stamps and brushes.
    GradientEffect3.jpg
Now I have a blue gradient with dark blue in the middle fading out to white at the edges.
    • click on the white circle at the other end of the gradient colour line
    • pick another colour - I chose yellow.
    GradientEffect4.jpg
Now I have blue in the middle, yellow at the edges, and a blend in between.
    GradientEffect4a.jpg
You can adjust the amount of blue and yellow by moving the little line in the middle of the colour bar to the right or left.
    GradientEffect6.jpg
You can have more than 2 colours in your gradient.
    • Click anywhere on the gradient colour line and this will add another circle.
    • Click on that cicrle and repeat the previous steps to change the colour.
    • I chose a magenta.

    GradientEffect7a.jpg
You can adjust the position of the gradient pattern on your image so that it isn't centered if you wish.
    • adjust the offset x and offset y slider.

Thank you so much. I picked up using Affinity with zero other experience in any programs so it’s great to learn these things.
