I scrapbook with the Affinity Suite, and have put a little tutorial together on how to crop layers of paper to title text in Affinity Photo, Designer and or Publisher. The steps are the same in all 3 programs. For this tutorial I have used the Light Me Home kit by Lynn Grieveson, and the font Elephants in Cherry Trees. 1. Type your title in your chosen font 2a. (Version 1 of Affinity) place your first paper on the page and the grab the paper icon in the layers box. Drag it below and to the right of the title icon - this will crop the paper to the text. 2b. (Version 2 of Affinity) place your first paper on the page and the grab the paper icon in the layers box. Drag it to the right of the title icon - this will crop the paper to the text. 3. Repeat with another piece of paper. 4. Select the 2nd paper, move the paper so the edge of the paper can be seen inside the title and angle it as you want it to be. 5. With the 2nd paper still selected you can add a small drop shadow to this paper if you wish. 6. You can also crop elements into this title in the same way. Here I have added an art transfer and a piece of torn paper. 7. I dragged the art transfer below and to the right of the green solid paper (to the right of the icon only in Affinity 2) - this cropped the art transfer to the green paper as well as to the title text. 8. Select the completed title. You can resize, move and add effects to this in the same way you normally would to any element on your page. There is a tutorial here on how to use a torn edge template to create your own torn paper which you could use with this technique.
Fantastic tutorial Angela with the tiling and torn paper. Well done. I know your peers that use Affinity will be grateful. Beautifully done!
I just did! Thank you Angela! I saw this in the Challenge Post and I just want to hug you across the pond! This is so helpful for so many!
@Angela Toucan thank you so much, I scrap exclusively with affinity photo on my ipad, and I appreciate tutorials like this.
some changes have been made to the layers panel in version 2 of Affinity. I've edited the tutorial so that the instructions for both Affinity 1 and Affinity 2 are given. I hope this has not made it confusing.
