The last few weeks have been tough at my house. I've been sick and having some weird symptoms. I landed in the ER over the weekend, which led to a trip to my ob/gyn. He was concerned that I had Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC). I consider myself pretty well-informed about health issues but this type of breast cancer is far different than the warning signs I knew about. This morning, I went for my final tests and am relieved to report that I am clear! (Thank you, God!!) However, it really opened my eyes to the need for additional education about IBC. Breast cancer isn't just lumps. It can show up as itching, color change, swollen lymph nodes, etc. If you aren't familiar with this type of cancer, please take the time to read some additional info on IBC. If any of these symptoms hit close to home, please get to your doctor ASAP. Now, I am going to let my life get back to normal, settle in to enjoy Christmas and have some scrap therapy! Have a blessed holiday everyone!
Oh wow! Laura, that's so scary! I'm so relieved to hear that you're okay. Thank you for sharing this info with us... very important. *hugs*
Wow Laura! Glad everything turned out ok. I bet that was so scary. And thanks for the PSA, I will definitely be reading up on that.
I've been hearing more and more about this kind of breast cancer recently. Sounds super aggressive and scary. I'm so so happy to hear you are clear Laura!! What a relief!! ((hugs)) and happy holiday!
Laura - I am so happy that you do not have that! What a scary thing to have to think about. Hugs to you and your family - the waiting period must have felt like forever. (I have gone through the cancer waiting game myself). I actually heard about Inflammatory Breast cancer though Mystery Diagnosis on TLC channel but thank you for putting it out there - good for everyone to know.
I feel relieved that I just had "the twins" checked on Monday. How scary to have that diagnosis brought up, though.
Thank you so much for all of the good wishes. As scary as it was, if learning that info about IBC helps even one of my friends, it was worth it!
