Something weird just happened. I logged in to TLP as usual and looked at the Alerts item in the upper right corner of the forum as usual.

The little pink bubble said 211 :eek:

I was away from TLP most of the weekend but that's way more notifications than I've ever received. Usually I have 2 or 3. Sometimes as much as 10. Maybe once or twice I've reached 20.

Obviously it was a weird glitch, or maybe some settings in the forum were adjusted or something. As soon as I pointed at it, the 211 bubble disappeared completely and the pop down menu told me I had no alerts. I clicked anyway because I wanted to make sure there hadn't been any at all, and it didn't list anything. That's strange because I thought that in the past, when I've clicked on Alerts, it would show me a list of even the recent ones I've read already. That's why I'm thinking a setting was reset in the forum or something.

Not a big deal. Just curious. And funny. And I wondered if it happened to anyone else. :)
 
Sometimes I accidentally click Alerts but then I move my mouse and they "disappear." So then I click "Show All" to make sure I didn't miss anything. But I didn't have any large number like you, Michele. Interesting! Maybe your alerts number was accidentally *all* of your recent alerts for, like, a month instead of the usual few days?

But when I read your thread's title, I thought maybe 211 was the new 411. Like, "Hey, there's a new government phone line! Dial 211 if you want traffic alerts in your area!" :giggle
 
That's so weird Michele! I had a normal amount of alerts this morning. I've definitely never had 211 at a time! lol! And like Sara said, I can just click on the alerts and it'll list the ones I've missed.
 
Mine said 249! I said "Yikes" to myself. I read page one and when I tried to go to page 2 it read "you have no new alerts". Glad it wasn't just me.
 
Just in case this was it, I had 213 emails last night at 2 am b/c I think the pad was hit by a spammer. So I have some alerts to come in email. It went off so many times that it woke me up last night and I went in and changed my email to stop it until I could come in this morning and look closer. Then I sent a help notice so that admins here would know. So I am wondering if your 211 alerts were that you are subscribed to one of the forums that got hit by that spamming person since the number is close to my 213. I just deleted all the emails and fixed my email back on the forum.
 
There was definitely a spammer, I received well over 200 new thread notification emails yesterday - all in Korean by the look of it. If they set a bot on the job they can do hundreds very quickly.
 
Oh yikes! I must have slept through it all! Darn spammers!
