hi everyone! here are your instructions for the 10/29 slow scrap you have until 3 PM Eastern on 10/30 to complete your page, post it in the gallery, and link it up here in this thread all participants who complete their page on time will receive a fabulous participate prize INSTRUCTIONS: NOTE: you are allowed one "cheat" in case you want to do something different with the instructions (e.g., two pictures instead of one). please just let me know what your cheat is in your comment below. 1) Select one picture and crop it into a horizontal rectangular shape. Place this towards the upper middle of the page - on top of a lightly colored or neutral background paper. your background paper may have a subtle pattern on it. 2) To the right of the picture, place a journal card. Underneath the picture and the journal card, place a horizontal strip of paper that is the width of the picture and journal card together. 3) Underneath the strip of paper, place three vertical rectangles of paper (any pattern you want) and/or journal cards - approximating the same width as your horizontal paper strip. Add some other papers to mat this section of the page - IF DESIRED. 4) Place some elements on the page - including (at a minimum): ribbon, string or stitching on the horizontal paper strip; at least one element on each of the three vertical rectangles; a date on the picture. 5) Add some stitching or some kind of border to at least two edges of the page. 6) Add some journaling and a title if not already included on the journal card or other element.
Not sure if I used a cheat or not. I used paint as my border element along two sides and I put the date on the journaling strip and not directly on the photo (maybe that's the cheat?). A fun challenge!
Thanks for the great and intimate chat! I had fun! Here is my layout! My cheat are the borders to be created with stitching or other. I didn't like to add that. So I didn't.
Thank you dear Dana, I have not scrapped a memory page in sooooooooooooo long, this was a great motivator!!
thanks Dana - here's mine (glad it wasn't a speed scrap - took me a while to get those rectangles and if they were meant to be the same size, that's my cheat... (oh and i didn't even see the border on 2 sides of the page instruction - just read stitching and threw it on - so i guess that's my cheat!) and hey good to see you again Anne!
Yeah I missed the deadline too (started this morning, did more at work at lunch then couldn't get wifi access to upload). I changed it a little bit because of that and I have submitted for a different monthly challenge, but I wanted to share the result of following the scrap instructions anyhow. My cheat was using two photos instead of one. I initially did have stitching for top and bottom borders but took them away once the deadline had come and gone. Thanks for the inspiration though. I knew what story I wanted to tell with this kit but had been struggling with how to put the two together.
I hate to ask this, but has the participation prize been sent out yet? I haven't seen anything, but I don't want to miss out on it.
