    Well, for someone who is not a cook or a baker, you did an AWESOME job! I had my own cake decorating business for 20 years and never even came close to putting something like this together !!!! Fantastic!!!

    Wow, AMAZING. I am not going to ahismy boys this, don't want them to get any ideas! I can bake quite well, but decorating....that leaves a lot to be desired.
    Can't wait to see what layout you come up with :)

    Wow! That is SO amazing! I can't believe you made that cake! And I just absolutely love the ear to ear grin in the picture of him with the cake! THAT makes it all worth it! :)

    That is a *great* cake!

    I love your layout too; I need to do something like that with my daughter and her drum kit. It's in the corner of her room and I don't think I've ever taken a photo of her playing it (she's been playing for almost two years). It will be good to have to compare to later, if she sticks with it. :)

    Holy moly! That is a cake and a half! wonderful work on the toppings. Fortunately my son who had a drum phase didn't know anything like this existed 30+ years ago but nor did I! That photo is just fabulous. I guess he liked it!:happydance2

    You girls are so encouraging, thank you! No, I've never worked with fondant icing or painting before. I always do a theme cake, I use my scrapping/crafting skills and transfer them to cake. :) I only do it twice a year. They used to be a lot simpler but have gotten more and more complicated the older they have gotten. I'll do a page or two of all their cakes one day! From Bob the builder and Spider man (I just did their heads!) to bears, dinosaurs and chocolate explosion cakes (18th last year). But now I am totally stuck ont he 19th in two weeks! He suggested alcohol! Ummm, no, I think not! Praying for inspiration I think! :) He's into money in a big way, but I did a money cake for him years ago, just with colour photocopies of money on top. Any suggestions????

    Oh, that's awesome! You did a great job! :agree And he looks so happy!

    (I do special birthday cakes for my kids as well and have serious respect for people who do this as a business.)
