Hey Kelly! Is it when you are actually liquifying the subject? You can change the size of the brush you are using and the farther out you "pull" the subject, the more motion you will get. You can always totally use the warp tool and get basically the same effect.

Thank you @IntenseMagic - yes it was when I was trying to liquefy the subject. I couldn't get the strokes to be nearly as long as yours. I will try to upload an image... (epic fail)!!! LOL! Alectaekwondo.jpg

LOL I wouldn't say epic fail.. I love that photo :) I would say just keeping pulling it out with the brush in liquify, possible use a little bigger brush. Or try the warp tool and see what happens. But I like it!!

Well this did not work for me the way it should, so after I extracted, I painted in what should have liquified. Then I clipped paint spatters to what I "liquified." I love the way it gives movement and the feeling of it, even if I could not get the actual steps to work.

I left the background out, because it was just distracting.

I followed the tutorial but somehow mine didn't seems to have quite the same sense of movement...maybe becuase by subject is sitting? Not sure... but here's my attempt. Still came out looking pretty cool!

@IntenseMagic THANK YOU Jan for a fabulous and easy tutorial on creating the dispersion effect! I haven't done this technique before and now I have spent the last three days playing with it using different photos, brushes etc. LOL! So much for getting my housework done! :giggle but I must say I feel MUCH MORE satisfied seeing this finished layout than a clean house!!! :lol:lmao

I hope I did it right. I did it on the sting ray. My daughter loved the effect!

    kit: Ready...Aim...Fire!!! by Kristin Aagard

    journaling:
I touched it. I was so scared. I kept looking, waiting, putting my hand in the water. I would scream and pull my hand back. Then Mommy said we were going to continue on to the rest of the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef because I kept pulling back. So then she went to the other side. I said one more time.
I was really going to do it. I did it! I touched it and Mommy captured the moment to share with Daddy. I wish Daddy was there but no he had to go get his hair cut. At least another memory in Mommy’s books with me. Maybe some day Daddy will want to experience things with me. If not he always has pictures. Since he is always busy working.
