My heart is aching tonight - Harper, had another seizure this evening. She woke up last eve and told her daddy and mommy she was scared (she's 3 1/2 so can at least tell them when something doesn't feel right) - Jacob said she had a fever then so they started the Tylenol / Ibuprofen regimen and she stayed home from preschool today. Harper's fever spiked to 105 (!) tonight and she had quite a bad seizure. It's been almost 2 hours and she still has a temp of 101.
I am praying the decide to find a specialist and they can get another brain scan done - it just seems crazy that these happen as frequent as they do - the last one was just a couple of months ago when she was with us.
I will say though, since Amanda works in the school district and Harper is in preschool - they haven't been very healthy - someone in that house always has a cold or ear infection!
Thanks in advance for any prayers you could provide!

Oh boy... I hope they can see a specialist and get things figured out! Not knowing while it is still happening is hard, for everyone. I'm so glad she had some sort of pre-warning. Hugs, Jill!

Jill, my thoughts and prayers are with you. It is so hard to see a little one suffer and not have any answers. I sure hope that her parents get a specialist who will have some answers.

I know this has been heavy on your heart and I'm so sorry that she's dad another one. Saying prayers that they can figure out what is causing this, or better yet, they just stop happening as she gets a little older.

It's so very scary. Could they suggest a 24 hour EEG? My daughter has 24 hour ones as her seizures are usually in the night. Nothing showed up on the MRI scan she had, but the 24 hour EEGs were a revelation.

Hugs to your family and that little sweetie.

My son was a pretty normal kid up until pre-K. He started having these tremors and we didn't know what they were. They would come at least every week or two at first. But as the neurologist has told us, if left untreated, they become more and more active.
By the 3rd month of school he was having them back to back. We took him to the ER at the Children's Hospital (Vanderbilt) they admitted him that night and we were there for 5 days with a multitude of testing. The diagnosis,..he has Complex partial Seizures.

He's on a variety of meds and we still cannot get the night time ones fully gone. So he has 24 EEGs done regularly. Over night stays. Etc. often until they can find out what's going on.

Hoping they find out what's going on soon. Hugs

I really hope they decide to do a 24 hour EEG @fruitysuet ...I don't want to say too much and be the grandparent that sticks her nose in their business ... however; I did mention it last night when I talked to my son. DIL's mom is a nurse so I would hope she would do some "strong suggesting" to them as well - if nothing else for piece of mind.

Suzanne, was your DD suffer from epilepsy?

How scary for you all - I'm glad the daytime ones are better with the aid of meds and pray the night ones disappear soon!!

I have noticed that after Harper has a seizure, she is, what seems to me, "spacy" the next few days (when we see her afterwards) - she stops and stares into space for a few seconds and then goes about her business. I mentioned that to my son and he said their doctor said it could be her age and her way of "focusing" when there is a lot going on, but I really feel the seizure and "spaciness" are related.

Aw, poor baby. I know this is hard and we talked about this before, my son had them for years. About 2 to 3, I believe. They did do a bunch of test, but seizures that occur during fevers are rarely anything else other than febrile seizures which don't cause any permanent damage. Seizures for any reason can cause a post dictal state but even that goes away in hrs at the longest. If her blood work is normal, and she has no other symptoms, I think you could breathe easier. It is so easy to let our fears take a bigger chunk of our heart so I hope you find some peace soon, friend. Sending out huge ((hugs)) to you, hun

Thanks Danyale! I know the fever seizures are not so uncommon - but never heard of them until it happened to her the 1st time - which was just about 2 years ago to the day.
I know if things would come back normal I'd feel a bit better - ! I'm just such a worry-wart!! Her mama and her are going to the doctor this morning - she has a rash on her face now and Jacob said she's a little tired yet. I suppose anyone, regardless of having a seizure or not, would feel crappy after dealing w/ a 105 temp.

Yes seizures and spaciness are related. That is one of the things in our stays at the hospital they come and check after every seizure.
