This song starts out (in Swedish, which I am learning) "I lie at home in my bed one ordinary day". I have a chronic illness and spend most of my days lying in bed. This song reminds me that I can do things even if I can't really do things, specifically, I can learn a new language.
The song I chose is Dido's "Take my Hand" "Touch my skin, and tell me what you're thinking Take my hand and show me where we're going Lie down next to me, look into my eyes and tell me, oh tell me what you're seeing So sit on top of the world and tell me how you're feeling What you feel is what I feel for you Take my hand and if I'm lying to you I'll always be alone If I'm lying to you See my eyes, they carry your reflection Watch my lips and hear the words I'm telling you Give your trust to me and look into my heart and show me, show me what you're doing So sit on top of the world and tell me how you're feeling What you feel is what I feel for you"
This song is so special to me for a number of reasons, but mostly because it reminds me of summer church camp. I love listening to this song being sung by all the campers around the campfire late at night. It's words speak to my heart. I truly didn't know what to do for this challenge until I happened to watch a video of the song Shine by Pat Benatar that was released on January 20th as an anthem for the Women's Marches that took place on January 21st. Although I couldn't participate physically in any of the Women's Marches this weekend, I am a passionate supporter of them. Pat Benatar's song touched my heart and lifted my soul.
As I started to scrap this morning, I changed songs. This one seems to hit pretty much what I'm feeling about the world these days --
Since my DH is always asking when I'm going to grow up, this song "speaks" to me. Coming from a musical family, I always feel better listening to music - rock & roll, classic, contemporary - whatever!
My song is "Hey Bulldog" by The Beatles Our English bulldog isn't just a family dog- She is our 3rd child. She is the best listener & snuggling her on my lap (yes she manages to get all 65lbs of herself on my lap!) comforts my soul!
The song is A Flatline Blur by Kevin Devine and it represents how I felt after listening to the inauguration on Friday.
I used the lyrics from Cornerstone by Hillsong United When Darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil My anchor holds within the veil Christ alone; cornerstone Weak made strong; in the Saviour's love Through the storm, He is Lord Lord of all He is Lord Lord of all Journaling: This move was so difficult. Not only were we moving, again, but we were putting almost all of our belongings in to storage for the year that Daddy went overseas. We knew the following year would test our faith, and our love for one another. Every time Daddy leaves, it’s hard, but through God, we are able to get through his time away and become a stronger, closer unit. There was a lot of uncertainties that we were going to face in the next year, but every single step we took, we asked God for wisdom, guidance and direction. We knew how importantly our family needed to lean on God during the next year. Christ truly was our cornerstone the year that Daddy went away as the Devil tested and tried our family is so many ways unimaginable. The photo is the day before the movers took our stuff to put in storage for the year my husband was overseas.
This song was recorded by Alison Kraus and was featured in the trailer for the movie Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. This was an amazing challenge. I had way too many songs in my head to narrow it down quickly, LOL!
