@desirae_nicole I started audio, and perhaps I need to sit and crochet, it isn't a clean the house and listen kind of book...so I am gonna read the first couple chapters the old fashion way...(tee hee) and then try and listen.
It's been quite awhile since I read that one. I may have to pull it up on my Kindle and get re-acquainted. I'm reading the Nightingale right now, lol!
@AnneofAlamo I like your thinking. I'm wondering if reading the Kindle Sample would ground me enough in the time/place/characters that listening would be easier after.
I'm so glad you posted this thread! I checked the poll a couple days ago and The Lake House was winning so I started to read that one. Lol! I'll put that on the back burner for now and start this one instead!
I tried to check out the electronic version from my local library, but my log in information isn't working on the library website. I'll be going in on Monday to get it sorted. While I'm waiting, I've got a few books in my currently reading list! The Returning by Christine Hinwood, Chaotic Joy by Megan Breedlove, Written In My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon, and a few others. I have a feeling not a lot of reading will be getting done during the MOC... maybe I should borrow the audio version of the book so I can listen while I scrap. I've yet to develop a love for audio books... I prefer reading it for myself.
I just started this two days ago. I'll definitely come and chat about it! @NancyBeck - The Nightingale is wonderful! The best book I read in 2015!
I had to jump offline and race over to a neighboring city before their library closed because I saw they had it in their "lucky day" section. I just got it. Yay. I think my daughter has it on audible, but I have a hard time following audio. I may jump between them if I can. We'll see.
For now I'm not a fan yet. People say the writing is poetic but I think it's just way more difficultly written then necessary. It may be the language barrier but I have been (almost exclusively) reading in English for over 6 years now and I normally have little difficulties with it. I'll continue reading though.
I loved the vast imagery of the text. I thought it paired very nicely with her POV being blind and how much more vivid the sounds and smells must have been for her. It really helped me imagine myself in her shoes.
Absolutely! It's beautifully written. I'm about a 1/4 of the way through, with 23 hours left on my borrow time. YIKES. I'm a fast reader, but haven't had a lot of reading time as of late. Wish me luck!
I have not downloaded yet, but my version on Amazone uk says 76 pages,? ? ? is there an abridged version too or is it because they use " printed page" numbers ?
I learned this trick from Julie @mrs2a50 if book is on your kindle or such, if you turn wifi off, it wont automatically return until you put the wifi back on! lol
