Here's mine. I don't have a defining photo for how I think of Jasper (my grandparents lived there so I visited a lot!), it is a mix of all my memories instead.
Thanks for the challenge - !! I finished my page with a smile on my face because of the sweet memories this challenge stirred up ... ! Thank you!!!! Journaling reads: This is the Blackhawk War Monument located near my childhood home. It is way off of the beaten path, pretty much in the middle of nowhere in Stephenson County, Illinois. I hadn't visited it for years, but last year, while we were on an Autumn "Road Trip" we stopped here. My mind & heart were instantly flooded with thoughts and memories of days gone by. During the summer and fall months, my best friend and I would pack a sack lunch, jump on our bikes, and ride up the big hill and around the curves to reach the Monument. We spent many lazy afternoons playing there. Back then, I never noticed that I could see for miles and miles as I looked to the East. I really had no idea or interest in what the Monument symbolized. I had no idea that battles had been fought and lives taken here during the Blackhawk War in in 1832. I am not a history buff, but have to admit that I am proud to have grown up so close to a place where history has been made. And I'm thankful for the wonderful memories that were made back in those fun filled days of my childhood. Journaled on January 6, 2015
Well I did it. I did a combo of journaling and a list. To explain: My daughter has worked in retail for 4+ years and as anyone knows hours are not that great. Even being a specialist/manager....she loves the company she works for but they just can't give her the right hours etc. My youngest son is an asst. manager for a property management company that leases upscale/high end apartments. He is moving to a new property and his old leasing agent job was open. She applied in December and they were so impressed with her she had multiple interviews and got the call 1/5 that she got the job! SHE is excited. A real - stable job. 40 hours a week, great pay, benefits. AND she will get bonus' on top of her base salary. This was her dream for a better job (so she can move into a better apt, get a better car too) and she did it! Her years in retail actually helped her! So I wanted to capture her 'things to do' in the next 2 weeks.... Credits: Just Jaimee - Storyteller 2015 - Hunter (template, papers and elements)
Me too! Journaling comes pretty easy for me, and most of my pages are an "all about" in one way or another... Just figuring out what THIS one should be about is what's got me stumped Off to peruse the gallery for inspiration...
Of course... it had to be *this* when I do not have any scrap time time until really late tonight. I'm pressed for time and running like crazy today. I think I know what I'm going to do my page about - maybe this will give me time to work on the journaling.
This one was so hard for me. I don't ususally journal on my pages since I don't really have a way with words. I ususally just let the photo tell the story. A big challenge for me but I did it! Thanks for making me step outside the box a bit!!
fantastic challenge Lori! And what awesome pages on awesome subjects! wow! Here's my page. Rebeccah did a page on dog facts a little while ago and I knew I had to scraplift that idea. This challenge is the perfect opportunity to do so! Yay!
