So, Pantone, the group that forecasts the trends in popular colors for fashion, decor and design, has named Radiant Orchid the 2014 Color of the Year. If you're interested, you can read more about it on our Trend Watch on the blog.

    Here's the color in action:

So, I am curious...where do you stand on purple? Do you love it...or would you rather leave it?

It's my 7 year old's favorite color but I personally don't like it at all. I have to pretend I do or she gets offended. :giggle

I'm not a huge fan of purple. I like it in some instances (lilacs, for example), but definitely not to wear.

I have had a strange relationship with purple. I loved it as a kid, then hated it as I got older. My niece Kylie decided it was her favorite color a few years ago - so I started buying a lot of purple kits and it's grown on me again and has become a color I really like, especially the darker, eggplant-y shades. I've recently started wearing purple and gold together. I like!

Not a fan of the lighter tones of purple (or any pastel colors in general) but if you deepen the color then I don't mind it. I don't own more than 1-2 pieces of clothing with purple; it's just not what my eye gravitates toward in scrapping or clothing.

I like the pantone purple up above for sure but I'm not normally a purple lover.

I love it when combined with other colors, like orange or cream.

In general, yes I like it...but there are probably more instances of badly used purple than well used purple, IMO.

A little purple is fine, but in general, I don't like it very much...

I have had a love/hate relationship with purple through the years. In the past I preferred the rich, deep colors of purple. Oddly enough I am a fan of pastels now that I paint.

I used to love purple, but lately I've been an 'orange' girl ;) so I guess, leave it... never thought I'd say that hehe.

I like a darker purple, not so much this pale lavender/orchid one. Guess too, it depends on what it gets paired with that will give it a fighting chance. :giggle

Love dark purple, wear it all the time. My eldest son also loves it, he has a wall in his room that is a lovely dark purple - looks great with white window frames.

Pastels do nothing for me at all...

Another dark purple fan, as long as it's a warm plum type of purple. And even then it's really only around the holiday season. I like plum purple with greens, pale blues and metal tones, so I have some plum ornaments on my tree. Beyond that I'm not a big purple fan.

I have to add... in our last house we painted the main wall what we thought was a rich, deep, dark, purple. In reality it looked more like a barney wall. :lmao

    It was a major #homedecorfail

    Wanna see? :giggle
