Feel free to read our book club books in any order that you choose and when you've finished reading, come back here and tell us what you think. Please label spoilers. We have a new trick for hiding spoilers. Type whatever you want and then highlight the spoiler portion and click the eye with a slash through it button above and select Spoiler. If that doesn't work just highlight your text and change the color to white >>>This is a super secret spoiler alert!<<< like I did right there.

Or...
Don't give away the ending for those who haven't finished yet!

I managed to get an early copy (7-day loan) from my digital library after being 84th in line for the normal check-out period! I really enjoyed this book and will be keeping an eye out for more from this author.

It started slow for me, but I persevered and was pleasantly delighted as the book carried on. The overall message of kindness is one that should be promoted more in today's world. There were some hard situations (the fight scene and Theo's death) that were dealt with with the proper amount of detail to evoke the right emotions but because of that, I don't think I can recommend this to my sister, who is very sensitive to descriptions of violence. The ending was a surprise to me and I enjoyed how everything linked up. I appreciated how the author tied everything up.

I started to read this book last Monday, so far sounds interesting,
I wonder what Theo's secret is

I LOVED this book. I gave 5 stars & I don't give those easily.

It's definitely slow- but in a good way? It's hard to describe, but I just loved the character development. It reminded me a lot of A Man Called Ove. I just think the world needs more Theo’s. This would make a phenomenal movie too!

I'm almost up for my turn at the library, so I can't view anyone's spoilers yet. Lol! I'm really looking forward to this one!

I finished reading it,
and I didn't like the scene of the fight and Theo's death, I found it so violent. The rest of the book felt very slow, I mean at the beginning, the author hooks you with the idea of a secret, and you expect it to be revealed at least a third of the way through the book, but it dragged on for so long that by the time it was revealed, I had already forgotten about it, anyway, I did appreciate that it addressed themes of kindness and empathy, something that seems to have been forgotten in these times we live in.

I have it downloaded on Audible, but I'm listening to Lonesome Dove right now and that is like a 35 hour book! LOL I might be done with it by August and ready to move on. I am so tempted by all the spoilers above!!!

I was very excited to read this, was on a waiting list in the hundreds, but then I found it on the "Lucky Day" shelf at the library. I got it, read a couple of pages and then was sidetracked and had to return it.
:giggle

I was able to find it on the Lucky Day shelf again and read it the night before it was due to be returned (again). It was really slow-going (for me) at the beginning, which is probably why it took me so long to get to it.

I totally agree with Grace's assessment as well as Heather's (in spoilers).

I don't know exactly what I was expecting with this book, but it definitely wasn't what I thought. I found it interesting that we didn't get more of the individual stories (for some) and then there was a lot more story for others. I liked the inter-connected aspects of the lives of some of the characters. There was a lot of building, but it left me feeling like it was unfinished.

As a writer, I'm always intrigued by books that get super-hyped and are 'all the rage' on the lists. To me, this felt a little bit lazy (wrapping up the ending). Or that maybe the editors cut a lot out of the book? I don't know, but I guess I had higher expectations from the hype.

It was interesting AND it felt strange to me. I guess I'm just conflicted about it. :thinking2

I've read this and it wasn't what I was expecting but I did end up enjoying it. It did make me stop and think at times.

I'm trying not to read too many comments here yet as I haven't started this one yet. I think it's going to be next on my list though after I finish my current book. (even though that book is dragging a bit for me)

I started this book this morning thinking it was the July book, so I'm a bit early! I'm liking it so far. I'm so tempted to click on the spoilers, but I'm resisting!
