I just finished this one a little bit ago. I gave 4 stars- here's why:

Although VERY predictable, a well written, satisfying read. I was surprised who much I liked all the characters. You'd think with the plot being a man with 2 families that I they wouldn't get a long, but I ended up loving the relationship/bff between Leah & Clio. It's more of a family drama than anything else, but I enjoyed it for sure!

I just upgraded my Audible account so I could get all the upcoming books into my library! Tee hee! Why have I not been listening to books all my life? I love reading, I love stories, but if I read in the evenings after work, I will just fall asleep. Now, I can "read" books on my commute, while I'm scrapping, sitting in the sun! Sigh...it's the best!

I have started this book and am about a quarter of the way through. I have in the past read another book by this author and remember enjoying it and this one is proving to be good as well. I am nearly at the stage I do not want to put it down as I want to know where the story is leading me.

This one sounds really good! I'm going to join in. I've got a couple books in the process that I need to finish first (at least one of them), but I already added it to Everand.

I enjoyed the story but ...

at the end I felt like there was too much explaining! We get it! Everyone had feelings about what happened...predictable feelings!

I'll add it to my list. I've been reading a lot of Michael Connelly lately. I love detective stories!

I finished this book last Friday. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. To me personally a book would really need to be outstanding to get a 5 rating.
The book was well written and held my attention all the way through. When I got to half way I wanted to keep reading to see how the story would pan out. The character I related to the most was Leah as I was also an unmarried parent until my daughter turned 9. I enjoyed the surprise twist that Grace turned out to be the Mrs Newman that helped Leah which showed she had great compassion. But at one time during the story I thought Grace may have been the one to push Melissa over the cliff when she found out about her husband being also married to Melissa. The last chapter titled "Charles" was an interesting ending. If he had thrown out his blue book some of the events may never have happened. Clio was given the book when he died and it was that book that led her to Leah and started the good friendship happening that may have not happened otherwise. Also Leah may never have fallen in love with Marlon ( my hope was if the story was real that those two would one day marry and the children have a Dad). The strongest character in the story was Grace for having never confronting Charles about his bigamy.
This is the second book of Imogen Clark's that I have read. The other was Impossible to Forget which I enjoyed. Now I have bought Postcards from a Stranger which I will eventually read but not just yet.

Where the Story Starts was an enjoyable, quick read and kept me guessing... well, almost! Here is what I thought .....

I thought the plot was a bit obvious at first, but the red herring with Ray "the half-brother" was a clever move, even if I saw through it pretty quickly. Grace’s secret identity as Mrs Newman was another fun twist, though I’d already guessed before the reveal.

My only complaint? Charlie’s chapter felt totally unneeded. I already disliked him, and hearing his thoughts didn't make me feel sorry for him at all. If the author had used that chapter to actually make us care about him, it would’ve been a brilliant twist!
:giggle

I gave it four stars (it has to be exceptional to ever get a five out of me sorry).

I started the book this morning! So far, I like it. We'll see! It will probably take me several days to finish as I'm working on a handful of books right now.

I finished the book this morning. I really enjoyed it!

Like others, I felt that the story was predictable for the most part, though there were a few twists. I didn't like or need the Charles chapter at the end. We saw how everyone found out and how they took the truth, and that to me was the end. Though Grace was a saint, I felt like it was a little unrealistic for her to just deal with it while her husband cheated on her for years and years...craziness. I understand she was trying to protect her children from having to deal with things, but still, that's so sad. I love that she was so compassionate towards Leah and Melissa though. Overall, a really good read, and I will definitely look up some other books by this new-to-me author.

Ooh...a reason to read more (and people to potentially discuss those reads with) - yah!
I've just started another Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook, so I may be sliding in the end of the month finishing this one, I'm I've added it to my To Read list! :)
