I didn't know how to title this thread. But my 2nd daughter just graduated High School and we had a little graduation recital/concert/party for her this past weekend. She performed some classical pieces and then a few originals (her passion is writing, playing, and singing)....and then she surprised us with a song she wrote for us. I thought I would share it because (well, I'm her mom and I want to show everyone - LOL!) she mentions scrapbooks in the song.
Congrats my dear! you must be so proud of her, and I really love this song, and I found on youtube a video of her playing this one, as finnish, I feel so glad to hear someone playing music from Sibelius, please thank to your daughter for it.
What a beautiful recital. I clicked on the link in the link that Grace shared and heard "Romance" too ) And love that she gave you the gift of a song to.
Ok first, she is so talented and 2nd, that is so awesome that she talked about your scrapbooks and the memories captured in them! Love it!
It's one of her favorite pieces! I'll let her know. Her piano teacher got her a water bottle with many of her favorite composers names on them and Sibelius is one of them.
Oh that's so nice to hear. Tell her, yesterday night I found few of her videos in youtube, I listened all of them, she is very talented, and I'm sure she's gonna be a great composer and musician!! And believe me, I know about music, my dad was opera singer, and I studied piano and harpsichord in the conservatory, for a couple of years when I was teen, but life happenings and some other things leaded me out of the music, and into archaeology. Anyway, my favorite modern pianists are Maksim Mrvika, Louis Lortie, Ivan Bessonov, Yuja Wang (is a girl), Evgeni Grinko (he is also drummer, and composer), Daniil Trifonov, Fazil Say, Evgeni Kissin, Hélène Grimaud, and Marc-André Hamelin. And I know Yann Tiersen says, he is not pianist, not composer, but I to my mind, he is one of the best musicians, and composers from our times, if you are interested listen Rue des Cascades and Naval, I know almost everybody knows Tiersen for Amélie, but his masterpiece to my mind is Rue des Cascades, the plasticity, harmony and the sensibility that flows when he plays it, is gonna catch you, I'm sure. You have a wonderful day!
