Happy May to you all!! I am hosting the journaling challenge this month. When I was thinking about what I wanted to write about this month, I couldn't help but reflect on my daughter's life and her recent choices. You see, she is graduating from high school at the end of the month... It seemed like just yesterday I was working on pre school worksheets with her as we adjusted to a new life in a new country in a new situation. We have been through so much together, and yet this year I have completely missed out on everything. She decided that she needed a change - for a number of reasons - so we moved her back down to the states to live with her aunt and uncle in Colorado...during her senior year of high school. I mean, who does that in their senior year of high school??? And I have been stuck back up here in Canada watching from afar. And now she's graduating, and then on to post secondary and the rest of her life. I am so proud of her, of her strength and courage to do this...it makes me sad and happy at the same time that she was independent and courageous enough to make this decision. And not only to choose to do this, but to thrive!! So my journaling challenge for you this month is to reflect on someone's courage. It can be yours or someone else's. Because this is a journaling challenge, you must have at least 5 full sentences of writing on your page. Here is the layout I made for this challenge. I can't wait to read about your courageous inspirations!! Please Remember: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product (eligible product can be current or retired product from resident designers, or guest designer product that is currently in the TLP store). Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the May Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread (please use the share BB IMG code found on the right side in the gallery). The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
Wow! What a story to tell @bcnatty . You have a brave and strong daughter. Now I just have to figure out what I can scrap about....
As I thought about this challenge, there were so many individual women I could write about but I wanted to respect their privacy so I chose to honor them with names and details but enough journaling that one could feel and relate to the pain of their circumstances.
A look back 7 years and documenting the changes in their lives and who they are now and the courage it takes to live and follow your dreams
Mine about one of my daughters. The journaling is veryy personal so i blurred it but i can send to you if you want.
A little warning, it's not a super happy story, but I couldn't get into another frame of mind to tackle a different angle
