My parents chose Kendra from a baby name book, so I've known for as long as I can remember what my name means. In their book, Kendra meant "the knowing woman" or in more general terms, knowledgeable. So, my name made me smart or something lol
In the past my Anne means "Grace" and Marie - "wished for child". But I looked at a website and this time it is all a little different because of the French spelling of Marie Anne - Gracious Marie - of the sea ( I do mind this meaning as I do like the sea ( beach and ocean waves)
My name means Lion Woman which is, like, so perfect. My mom did not choose my name because of its meaning. I chose my children's names because of their meanings. My oldest's first & middle names means "A Clear Answer to Prayer from God" or "Clearly Chosen by God." Now that they're enby, they no longer use their first name & that makes me a little sad since I did spend so much time poring over baby books and list names but I'd never want them to use a name that felt bad or wrong. Maybe they will pick a new middle name when they get older that will have a special meaning, too. My youngest's first & middle names have a similar meaning: "Gift of God."
Ditto. Courtney = From the Court (French orgin) Although, I haven't looked it up in awhile. And apparently in the last few years they've added a few meanings depending on where you look! - Short nose (LOL! my nose is not long, but it's not short) - dweller by the dark stream. (I really like this one!) Yes. Munchkin's name means "Gift from God". It was chosen specifically for him.
I love name meanings. . And so I've loved reading this thread! My name is Biblical and means "Princess" or "Noblewoman" Child 1 has a name meaning "My Own Meadow" Child 2 has a name meaning "(Star) of the Sea" Both have familial middle names, one for their maternal grandmother and the other for their paternal grandmother.
Fun to read about the different meanings! Heres what I found about my name Meaning:Idol; Nymph. Lynette is a girl's name of Welsh origin. This name translates to “nymph” or “idol.” The addition of “ette” to its end also hints that it is a French diminutive of the name Lynn. Lynnette has a beautifully airy, feminine quality about it, not unlike its nymph origin. My kids names Zachary - God Remembers Miles - soldier or merciful Violet - purple flower Daniel - God is my judge
Olivia English Meaning: Elf army (from the masculine name, Oliver) Latin Meaning: Peace, olive tree (popularized by Twelfth Night by Shakespeare)
My name means pearl. It is from Margrethe that is from Persia and arameic. I was grown up before I knew someone else with my name but I've only met a couple with it. We never thought of this when we picked our kids name.
