HI there, I am so new to this and I apologize if I am not following protocols. Does anyone know if there is a way to move the Photo bin in PSE from the bottom of my workspace to the panel on the right, alongside the layers panel? I have PSE 2022. Thank you!
Welcome @OrangeINFJ to the Lily Pad!!! I have a working copy of PSE 15 and there is no way to move the photobin.... Basically in PSE I believe all the panels are stationary and non moveable. I am sure someone with the newest version can let you know. (I use PS CC and have PSE15 for writing tutorials)
I have PSE 2022 and haven't found a way to move the photo bin to the right side. I can hide it temporarily by clicking on the down arrow on the top right of it. Cheryl of Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs has a youtube tutorial on how to keep the layers panel stationary along the right side with your styles, etc panels in PSE 11, that might help with your workflow. I set up mine this way in PSE 2022 and love it. I don't use the photo bin much, instead I use file > place to find and add papers/elements to my layouts. I like doing file > place because it keeps the file name as the layer name so it's easier for doing credits. HTH
@keepscrappin Thank you. Can you tell me more about the place command? I had watched some Fiddle-Dee-Dee videos and it looked like she had an entire kit opened up on the right side and could select what she wanted to include. The photo bin is useless for this. It is so small. I want to see all my options larger. I tried the place command and I wasn't able to "place" more than on element at a time? Any light you can shed on the would be helpful. Thanks!
The file place command only lets you place one item at a time. You would need photoshop cc to be able to add multiple items like Cheryl does in her videos. i’m not on my computer right now, but maybe you could use floating windows in PSE instead of using the photobin. I think it is under edit, preferences, general. Then make sure allow floating windows in expert mode is checked. That would allow you to see all open files larger than what the photobin allows and you could drag items from the floating windows to your layout.
What you are seeing in my videos on the right side is my layers panel. It sounds like you already have the layers panel open on the right, but if you haven't, you can turn it on by going to the top menu and click on WINDOWS and then check LAYERS. I use two monitors when I'm scrapping. The left screen has Photoshop CC on it, and the right screen has either File Explorer or another program called ACDSee. I select and then drag from the right screen onto the left screen and drop those items onto my canvas. The left screen is the only one that is captured in my videos, so all you will see is my Photoshop CC interface unless I specifically open up File Explorer or ACDSee onto the left screen. You won't be able to drag and drop directly onto a PSE canvas as everything goes into the photo bin. You can increase the size of the photo bin by hovering over the top border of the photo bin until you get the up/down arrow and then drag with your mouse to make it bigger. Of course, this greatly hampers the size available for your canvas. There are also options for you to change the layout of the canvas and papers/elements you place in the photo bin. When you are looking at the bottom toolbar, you'll see LAYOUT between ROTATE and ORGANIZER. Once you have multiple files in the photo bin, you'll be able to select a variety of layout options. You may not have the ability to choose the LAYOUT OPTION of FLOATING ALL. If so, go to EDIT>PREFERENCES>GENERAL and make sure ALLOW FLOATING DOCUMENTS IN EXPERT MODE and ENABLE FLOATING DOCUMENT WINDOW DOCKING options are checked. From that point, you will see all your items as floating windows. I am scheduled for my next Watch Cheryl Scrap LIVE! for Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 9 pm EST/6 pm PST. If you'd like to pop in, I can answer your questions with PSE open. DISCLAIMER: I haven't used PSE in a long time, so it's likely I'll be learning something along with you. LOL
Wow! Thank for all of that information. I will play around with it and try to tune for your next live scrapping event. I got excited about the two screen option…clever…thanks for trying to help
Absolutely! I've had so many mentors and fellow scrappers who have helped me (and continue to). I just like to be in the cycle of giving back. Don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions!
