When October rolls around, it means we will be celebrating Halloween soon. It's one of my favorite holidays because we put out scary decorations, carve pumpkins and eat, err rather... hand out lots of candy to the trick or treaters. Challenge: In honor of carving pumpkins, I want you to take inspiration from this jack-o-lantern photo for your layout. You DON"T have to do a Halloween layout (I didn't), just be inspired by at least 3 things in this photo to scrap whatever you'd like. Example: My layout was inspired by: cut out face triangle shaped eyes varying orange tones of the pumpkin. Gentle Reminder: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the October Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread (please use the share BB IMG code found on the right side in the gallery). The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges). I can't wait to see your creations, until then take care and keep scrappin!
I used the same three inspiration things you did. cut out face triangle shaped eyes varying orange tones of the pumpkin.
Inspiration: 1. Triangle shapes (are repeated in the pennant/banner) 2. The color orange (one of my favorite colors) 3. The wood background
my inspiration: 1. orange colors 2. yellow colors 3. the brown from the wood inspired my browns and foliages
Wow... this was tricky... be inspired by the solitary pumpkin... I must admit, I first did the page and THEN turned to the big head for inspiration to enhance it. here's my take: stand alone flower - like the solitary pumpkin itself deep shadows added under the background paper - the carving and the deep shadows there leaf on the top - triangles in the face cut-out drops - all the cut out face
I was searching for a similarity other than the obvious but since my husband wasn't able to see what I quickly saw, I went with four in case others here can't see it either. 1. color of the pumpkin 2. wood 3. when I look at the interlocking circles on both the left and right sides of this template I see a resemblance to the shape of a pumpkin cut top to bottom through the stem and blossom end. If you turned those half pumpkins cut side up with the stem oriented to the middle...with the photo placement about where the stems would be. 4. I made sure I added a warm yellow for the light just in case...
I was inspired by the whole Halloween vibe of the Jack-O-Lantern, so I went full on Halloween. The candles inside the Jack-O-Lantern, the pumpkins and naturally, the color orange.
What a fun challenge! Thanks for hosting, Kayla. I was inspired by the triangle nose, and the orange and brown colors. Mine
Fun Halloween challenge <3 I was so tempted to do a Halloween theme but I refrained to challenge my self a bit more. I was inspired by the orange colour, the large focal point, the wooded background and elements and the triangle shape: - I would have usually done a sandy /neutral colour alongside the teal but I ended up loving the pop of the orange - so thank you for the push!
