I am so blessed with all your replies!! Thank you for taking the time to educate me and show Me what these pens can do. Now I want some!!!!!!
Wow. Thank you so much for all this and the time you took to type that all out! I’m sold. Just need some of the green $tuff!!!!
I got info from Kate Hadfield re my wtercolor pencils... they are really great I also have that water pen brush that you fill with water, and also bought mineral oil to use with regular colored pencils... There were some digital goodies of Valorie Wibbens that I remember making cards with the color pencils and using mineral oil.. I think it was a blog post .. Here it is: https://the-lilypad.com/index.php?s=mineral+oil Very cool technique! Now that I brought this back up, I am going to have to try this again!~
Oh thanks Christa, had never heard about using mineral oil with watercolor pencils, I have some Inktense ones so I will have to try it out with them!
Yeah it has been a while since I thought about doing this myself, so I may try dabbling over the weekend making a card or something! Watercolor and regular Color pencils.. I think Liana used regular colored pencils.
@wombat146 the mineral oil is for regular colored pencils and you use one of those "blenders" the paper rolled things with it. I did not use the resevoir water brush with mineral oil.. it is the paper things here like Liana's photo that is used with the mineral oil and colored pencils.. (I corrected my post above to avoid confusion!)
Sales, sales, sales! And Walmart when the school season starts (but thats a little bit in the future).
I just got back from walmart and already see the school supplies out.. we start mid august here.. be on the lookout! Some of the copics I got on sale through mail (back in 2011) and at the art store.. going to an art store is like letting a kid loose in a candy store LOL
I had to go instore at Blick to see what the items were and get a feel for things. I'll order online for now on - it's cheaper!!
Just added some more to my Amazon cart since I was down to my last one I think hubby stole a couple because I thought I had more
Now I want aaaalllllll the next level pens. My little pen caddy that I keep out at all times is mostly used for my planner and I wouldn't use any of them for an art journal page. So my response is entirely off topic. I think I need to check out the Copic for crafting!! For my planner, I use: Pilot has a whole line of erasable pens called Frixion, markers, and highlighters, but the colors are limited. For brush pens, I like Staedler dual tip, so there is a fine liner option too. Great color options and long lasting. I like Zebra Mildliners for...well....mild color like highlighting. They are dual tip, chisel in fine point. Lots of colors. I like the Zebra Doodlerz gel pens because there are soooo many colors and they are bold. Have fun building your collection!
Gel pens, you speak my language. Just "googled" these. Thirty colors in one box....say what?????? Oh but wait...one could get 60 colors
I might have done a thing with those Zebra Doodlerz. I didn’t really buy them since I had some money left on an Amazon gift card. Just sayin’
Yessss!!! I really, really need to improve my doodling and drawing skills. Some illustrators I follow recommend drawing in pen...because you can't erase, it forces you at a faster pace to improve your skill. These will be a great tool to practice with...got the medium tip ones...hoping they'll work well on mixed media pieces too.
