@mary kate It was a thing in the '40's too! There were some murders over it. Only, not a silver fox - a younger man but he targeted the same group for their money.
I don't do anything with my insta, because I work on Charlotte's she has more followers than I will ever have. However my twitter is another story and I get DM'd a lot, and then it's BLOCK! And I don't even have my photo for my avatar it's my cat Sherlock
Got a great one today from a 'David Williams'!! (To be fair, I hear it's very hot on the other side of the world - it's winter here in NZ - so maybe he really does love his fan?)
How to tell if a friend request is a scammer... I don't do a lot on insta, but my fb gets a lot of faux suitors. 1) Starts their message with, "I hope I'm not bothering you with my friend request." 2) Avatar photo includes one or more of the following: A stethoscope draped loosely around the neck A golden retriever A bomber jacket A military uniform with a ton of stars, medals, honor cords, and stripes. 3) Background photo is A sunset on a beach An animal posed to look adorable A grassy field An inspirational quote. An expensive car 4) Message includes a compliment such as, "You look like an angel on earth," or "Your posts are so compelling, I just know we need to be friends," or "I think you might be my soulmate. 5) Mentions that they are widowed, wealthy, god-fearing, or needing someone to shower with love. 6) Ends the message by asking you to friend request them, since they can't seem to friend request you.
I can tell you that the TLP IG page doesn't get these idiots filling the inbox so maybe it does have to do with the profile pic thing - clearly you look too irresistible Lynn (because you don't look gullible to me, but what do I know b/cos they drive me crazy on my own scrappy-pages-only account). I have wondered whether I'm too cynical & should give some of these military, god fearing, medical specialists the benefit of the doubt, but ever since Vin Diesel followed me on Pinterest & then there was a run of 'official' celebrity scrap enthusiasts on my IG, i've become a blocker more than a poster. (I will add I am silently waiting for someone that's also part of the UN, NASA, Greenpeace or MENSA to want to follow my scrappy journey!)
irresistible to scammers? Why thank you .. I think! Keanu Reeves is particularly persistent in trying to be my friend, he sets up so many different profiles to do it but I am playing hard to get. Hilariously, I did once have a big Aussie celeb actually following me for a while till he did a clean out. It was after we had a genuine interaction but I am sure all my friends thought I'd fallen for a scam
Another give-away they are scammers is when they follow 500+ people but only 20 people (or none) follow them back. And they have less than 10 posts. You can see those stats even if their account is private.
