Hi everyone, and welcome to May!! I can't believe how fast this year is going by. This month I have the privilege of hosting the Journaling Challenge. An easy way to add so much interest to a page is to journal in a shape other than a square or a rectangle! It grabs the reader's attention and makes it fun to read. The challenge is simple, journal in a shape other than a square or a rectangle. You can have multiple blocks of journaling, but at least one block of journaling must be in a shape other than a square or rectangle. There are lots of tutorials on how to create text in a shape. Photoshop: PSE: Affinity: There are also pre-made templates that you can use to make the challenge even easier. Here is a sample of what you could use in the store: Here is my page for a little inspiration, using a Journal Writing Shape Template from Scrapping with Liz (full credits in the gallery): As always, please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the May Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges). I'm looking forward to seeing your text shapes!
I like this way of journaling, I don't know why I don't use it more often. I use the path to journal inside the shape and then I enlarge the shape just a tad so it doesn't look crowded.
I've never successfully done this and I'm not sure if I have now. For some kooky reason, I made a submarine shape but when the shape isn't there, you really can't tell what it is. Then I made a page with a polygon and that looked better. So, I have two pages.
