MADE WITH LOVE Last year, we focused on techniques to add interest to our layouts. This year, I am starting a new series. I would like to take this year to dive deep into telling meaningful stories and writing out some of those memories that I've been putting off creating layouts for. Each month, please join me for an *extra* slow scrap. I will host a chat with a prompt and ideas for multiple ways to document stories within the prompts. Then, you will have 48 hours to create your layout...yep...extra time, in case you need to find a photo or rustle up a memory. February 2022 | Made With Love 1. RECIPE When you think back about your favorite holidays or visits to grandma's house and she would make your favorite meal? This prompt would go great with a recipe of your favorite thing that a relative made/makes. a. Photo ideas - 1. a photo of the recipe card in their handwriting 2. a photo of the person you are remembering 3. a photo of the dish that you are remembering (even if it isn't your own photo, usually recipes online have photos attached) b. Meaningful Journaling ideas- 1. the recipe itself 2. your own memories of how that meal made you feel and what comes to mind when you eat it. 3. Share a story of when you tried to recreate the recipe and "nailed it" 4. Share one of your least favorite foods and why you still won't eat it. 2. CLOTHES/BLANKET Did your aunt or best friend make your kids' a blanket when they were born? Do you have a hand-me-down outfit that every generation has worn for a christening or other event? Maybe you are the one who likes to make things for others? a. Photo ideas - 1. the item itself 2. the person who made the item 3. maybe a now and then comparison, or generational chart b. Meaningful Journaling ideas 1. what do you remember most about getting the item 2. what comes to mind now, looking at the item 3. how you feel about making and giving items to others 3.OTHER a. If you live in Texas, you know that homecoming is a big deal and nothing says love more than the Mum.... b. Have you ever taught someone to make something, or even want to document a time that you made something with your kids or mom, even as simple as cookies or building a snowman/sandcastle c. Have you ever made a fancy dinner or something for a date night? d. Do you make crafts or gift baskets as gifts for others? e. What other ideas can you think of to capture "Made with Love" Instructions 1. Use the prompt "Made with Love" - and put that somewhere on the page, so we know it's for the scrap...a title or an element 2. Add a meaningful story - yes...journal! but there isn't a limit or certain amount....it's all you 3. Photos optional 4. make a page you LOVE. Please post your completed layout in The Lilypad gallery. GALLERY RULES: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products. (Templates count as 15%.) Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed. ***You have 48 hours to complete your LO***
Love this new series, Farrah! One question.. do we need to use all three prompts (recipe, clothes/blanket, others) on our page? Or are those just some ideas?
Those are all just ideas to get you started....you only have to do 1 or even pick something else...whatever is meaningful to you.
I love this new series. Had a little cry and lots of happy memories while making this layout about an Aussie Pavlova
My layout is about the baby blanket my mum knitted my daughter. It was hard as my mum died before Christmas, but it was also a heart warming reminder of one of the ways she showed her love.
Sorry I was unable to make the chat but I LOVE this new series (as well as your last). I can't wait to see other prompts. I am actually off to make another page that you inspired with this slooow scrap.
i gonna find this psd, for i ca't find mygradma pic or the beef and noodles. for there so much more to tell, of the hard board i have, with all the marks of all the times she cut the noodles out. Never could make the same. To watch here, she put flour on conter and cracked a egg in center to make dough. And how it was a family tradiion, going back to my great grandma. oh how i would love to have this dish to eat again.
