Thanks for teaching this new technique! The small pictures surrounding the big picture are the same pictures I used for the mosaic effect on the big picture in the middle.
I went thru all that waiting only for my contact sheet to save as a flattened image. I could not edit it at all. Will have to play around with it some more.
I created a template of sorts to make my mosaic. I used a repeated hexagon shape and clipped a bunch of photos from our trip to the hexagons - I probably used about 60 pictures. This was quite time-consuming, but I like the result.
This took me all day. If the mosaic effect isn't strong enough Jan @IntenseMagic , please let me know and I'll redo the pattern overlay.
Jan dear thank you so much for the great tutorials, and, the challenge, here's my take on the challenge, full credits in gallery. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
@IntenseMagic - Ok, I think I'm missing something here ... I could NOT for the life of me figure out how to get rid of the white lines around each picture. In your tutorial, you said to "crop" them, but I don't know what I'm missing! I have my layout completed with my mosaic, but each tiny picture has a white border around it. Is this ok? Or do I need to go back to the beginning?
In my mind, I don't think the white lines will matter much. I'm sure it's fine Trying new techniques is what it's all about!
Phew that was a challenge, but it turned out pretty good. All our vacation photos grouped together in one!
@IntenseMagic Jan, your instructions were clear and easy to follow for me using my old Photoshop CS6, thankyou. This was fun.
Day 14 Mosaic Photo The photos in the mosaic include 8 photos from each year of her life. They don't show up well on her dress, but do show everywhere else in the photo. I used the Heartsong Collab for everything on the page, starting with the Fiddle Dee Dee Heartsong template. I recolored a number of items.
Thanks for this challenge, I never tried that mosaic effect and I learned a lot while doing! I'm working with affinity and, for example, never heard of pattern layers before I love to learn new things with the software! Although I had a bit of a hard time doing a layout with that mosaic pic, it just didn't turned out the way I imagined The pictures in the mosaic are all from february 2021 when we had a once in a life time snow period here in germany, all that snow made me so happy!
I hope I didn't blow it by doing a mosaic of my mosaic... And then the journaling required a few more photos (one more than the template offered.)
Phew that was an awesome challenge Jan .... it certainly made me give my poor old PS CS4 program a work out, but FUN! Here is mine
