Deleting my original question as I just went with an alpha.

If I use one patterned paper in multiple shapes, would that count as one paper or one paper for each shape. Going back to the paper scrapping analogy it would only be one, right?

Does a mask I use to cut a photo count as an item? In paper scrapping it would not because you glue one thing on the page (the cut out photo), in digital the mask is an item in the layers
