I thought it'd be fun to make framed halloween sihouettes out of some digi products today!

They're pretty simple to make and i just used frames i already had...(sorry about the glare here!)

I also used Kate's Frank 'n Friends doodles for this project.

so to create the silhouette, i placed a frankenstein and a witch each on their own 5x7 white backgrounds (that's the size frame i had) and positioned them how i wanted..... I then stroked them.

    To stroke an element:
Double click the thumbnail in the layers palette ( that will create the dancing ants around the element)
create a new layer on top of that layer (command J)
go to EDIT- STROKE (i used 5 px black center)
    press ok

i then "HID" the actual doodled element and was then left with just an outline...

i then just printed it on.....can you believe it....BLACK cardstock. YES, it totally worked! I was so excited! I then just cut them out and placed them each on a 5x7 white cardstock!

I thought about just printing them in a full black Silhouette and then i wouldn't have to cut them but......i was cheap and didn't want to waste my ink!!! lol!!! up to you though!

Wanna give it a try? I'd love to see it!

Val, your talent astounds me!! AMAZING project!!
and I am SO going to try this... i know I have frames laying around somewhere.

So, you print 'just' the black outline onto black paper. It still shows up on the bl paper??

you know you could probably just
mask right over the elements as well.
or clip or whatever it's called.

put your image on a white background.
and make a new layer fill it with black from the paint bucket
    and ins PSCS or higher
    you can just hit
    ctrl+alt+g
    to clip the shape
(the black then takes on the shape of the object underneath)
    then hit
    ctrl+alt+e
    to merge the layers together.
    you can then upload
and print at costco or whatever.
(that's what i'm going to do.)
i have every size black frames.
    so i'll do 3 i think.

    so FUN!

    thanks girls!!

jacque! that would be awesome! I actually started the project clipping my black kraft paper to it but when i thought about the printing i didn't want just used up my ink! I of course, wanted it NOW and didn't want to wait to get it printed-haha! i'm so impatient!

krista! yip, the outlines actually showed up pretty decently on the black cardstock! who knew!

    that is brilliant.
    no, really.
    we just never have ink.

    to upload and print somewhere.
