Welcome to Week 5 of Summer School 2021: Math Class!

    Tutorial - Hybrid Mini-book

Did you all just freak out because it's Math Class? :giggle I personally love math, so the thought of doing math for summer school doesn't freak me out at all, but if you don't love math, I want to set your mind at ease, I've created a template for everything I'm showing you here, so you don't actually have to do any math if you don't want to! Ha ha!

    Let's dive in!

    1. The first step is cutting out your pieces. You can print out 8.5 x 11 sheets of digital paper and then cut them to the sizes listed below, OR you can use THESE TEMPLATES to make it easier! :agree Here's your cut list:

    (1) back cover - 8.25" x 4", score lines at 4.25" and 4.50" along the long side
    (2) front cover - 7.5" x 4 ", score line at 3" and 3.25" along the long side
    (4-8) pages - 8" x 3.75", fold in half
    (2) 16-18" long ribbons

    2. Next, punch the hole as shown above. Use one page to start and space the holes roughly as shown. Distance doesn't matter much. Then use that page as a template to punch all the other holes with the same spacing. (hint: my hole punch didn't reach the center hole, so I had to use a hammer and punch.)

    Step 4 small.jpg

    3. Make all the score lines along the gray line and cut the one slit in the back cover (the shorter line is the cut. All other lines are scored. (hint: I do not have a fancy scoring tool, so I just folded the paper at those lines).

    Step 5 small.jpg

    4. Using tape or glue, attach the front cover to the back cover.

    Step 6 small.jpg

    5. Fold all your inside pages in half. Group the pages in 2 groups. You will have one set of pages on the left side and one set of pages on the right side.

    6. Using one ribbon attach one set of pages to the holes on the left side.

    7. Using the 2nd ribbon, attach the 2nd set of pages to the holes on the right side.

    Attaching pages with ribbon:
*trim ribbon on angle to make threading through the holes easier.
*poke ribbon from outside through cover and all pages on the outer holes on both sides, so the ribbon ends are both on the inside
*poke both ribbon ends through the center hole back to the outside. Both end go through the same center hole, so it will be tighter.
*tie a knot on the outside.
    Step 7 small.jpg

    8. Fold the left pages down, then fold the right pages down. Then fold the back cover down and tuck the front cover into the slit you made. Watch the video below to see the finished book. Easy peasy!

Here is a quick flip through video of my finished book. It's all ready for embellishments and photos!

I used Forever Joy's Summer Cottage Collection for this tutorial. :D
