If you could build a garden with only 3 plants, which ones would you grow? This was one of this week's table topic questions....I would pick: Tomatoes Basil Chives What would you pick?
Rosemary, sage and chives. My first garden was planted with those from a dear old ladies' garden. She dug them up for me, and brought them round and showed me what to do. She died the day after TJ was born, having spent every day since I delivered a stillborn praying for God to give me a living child. It was like she had finished her task ...
Ummm... this is kinda funny because the only plants in my garden are squash, tomato, and strawberry. I've tried other plants, but these are the only ones I seem to be able to grow.
I'm horrible about keeping plants alive, but succulents are good so far - so cactus, star jasmine, and Japanese boxwood - as those are the plants that I have kept alive so far!
If I could only have three plants to build a garden . . . hmmmm . . . I'd pick hydrangeas, azaleas, and zinnias.
Can I choose to get rid of the deer that eat my entire garden!?!? Our deer don't know what they aren't supposed to not like- they literally eat everything except onions. SO- to answer the question- I do Spinach, Tomatoes & Basil in pots on the patio away from the deer!
My chives have been on a road trip. My mom, who lived in Omaha, dug up a couple clumps of chives, among other plants, from her garden which I planted in my garden in Newton, Iowa (170 miles). We moved to our house in the country so I took the chives with me (5 miles), We sold that house (knowing we were relocating to the Pacific Northwest) and lived in an apartment for a year where the chives languished in an outdoor storage unit (4 miles). Next, we traveled halfway across the country, and of course, brought the chives with us and planted them at our house in Kent, Wa (1,788 miles). Nine years later, we moved to Seattle and the trusty chives are here and growing strong (21 miles). Those chives, accenting many meals and 40+ years later, have had a 2000 mile road trip. So added to the aforementioned chives, I would have basil and tomatoes.
Potatoes... green beans and maybe pineapples (although they dont grow well In Wisconsin but this is make believe land right?)
Hmmm: squash (love fresh squash), basil and raspberries. I can grow squash and basil...haven't tried raspberries yet. I did plant some blueberry bushes this year and we have a few blueberries.
to tell the truth... I would NOT be doing the planting because anything I try to grow dies! I love roses...... so...... 1. red rose bush, 2. lemon tree ( as I have lemon juice every morning), 3. stevia ( use that in our morning smoothies)
I have big bushes in my garden (rhodies, azaleas, roses, hydrangeas, lavender) but have always wanted a veggie garden. I would love to grow: 1. tomatoes 2. squash 3. beans
