I am very prone to getting styes in my eyes! I swear I have a new one pop up every other week! if not more! they are so ugly and painful..

Anyone have a magical stye cure?? I have tried medical wipes, baby shampoo to clean my lids, the over the counter stye crap.. you name it.. and these suckers keep coming!!!!!!

I rub the tip of my finger against a spoon and then put the spoon on the stye. It burns it out. It's not for the faint of heart!

Do try it, you want to create heat with your hand or finger on the metal of the spoon to try to make the heat act. The warmer you can do it the better. I used to get them all the time in Puerto Rico and these was the only thing that would work.

Me too, I totally read it as styles!

I don't get styes very often, so I don't have any tips for preventing them. I hope you find something that works!

You should be sure to discard any makeup you might have been using as it could have bacteria in it that is causing the styes. Of course, if you don't wear makeup, I'd then suggest that you don't touch your eye area if at all possible, and make sure you are using an antibacterial wash to keep your face clean. If you wear contacts, you should definitely throw away the pair you've been using if they are disposable and hang out with glasses for a while.

To help with a stye, the only thing I've ever had that really helped was to use warm compresses. I'm sure it's similar to the same thing @Dalis is doing with the heat of the spoon. I usually take a washcloth and wet it and then pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. Test on your inner arm/elbow for heat before putting it on your eye area. I will usually put the washcloth inside a plastic sandwich bag as well. That way I can throw the bag away and keep reusing the cloth for repeat sessions of compresses.

With repeat styes, you may have allergies that are not helping the situation. See your eye specialist because you can never be too careful with your eyes!

I know they are miserable, and I hope you get some relief soon.

Like Cheryl I have done a washcloth compress when I had a stye. Not very often thankfully and not for a long time. If I got one now, I would use one of my moist heat dry eye compresses that I got for my chronic dry eye.

yes, heat is your helper! Some people just rub the finger against their palm and then press the finger. Make sure you clean your hands really well before and after!

@dotcomkari Also, you could make yourself some camomile tea and as soon as you get the tea bag out from your tea cup (check to make sure it's not too hot) put it on your eye as a compress. Camomile helps with inflammation.

Old remedy ( very similar to Dalis "cure") rub a gold ring over it many times. ( I guess it is metal and heat )

My hubby gets them occasionally and he using the warm wet washcloth to help ease them away. They usually go away in a day or so.
