Well, we stopped at Denny's on the way home. All 3 of us had pancakes. I had mine with eggs, Brody had his with grapes. Jamie had chicken strips as usual, with one pancake. He doesn't put anything on it, just likes one pancake on the side. Lol.
We often will have breakfast for dinner and we'll throw pancakes into the mix for that. We don't really have them unless it's on the weekend as it's too much cooking for me in the early morning. LOL
Blueberry pancakes and pancakes with pecans cooked inside are my two favorite kinds of pancakes. Just plain is great if I can find some boysenberry syrup - yum!
Do you cook the eggs, etc. separately, then pile them on top, or actually cook them on top of the pancake? I have to have some sort of protein with pancakes or I end up feeling "off" later on. @keepscrappin my mom used Bisquick, so I'm carrying on that tradition.
While they are cooking on the first side, drop some banana slices on them and a few chocolate chips. Then smother with butter and syrup. Yum!
I love pancakes! I just made some banana walnut pancakes this weekend that were super yummy! It was a flourless recipe to begin with and I made them that way once before, but this time I added some pancake mix instead of the instant oat for a little more omph and I liked them way better! https://www.skinnytaste.com/4-ingredient-flourless-banana-nut-pancakes/
I rarely make pancakes. I grew up having them almost every weekend, with eggs/bacon/sausage but I didn't carry on my Mom's weekend breakfast routine. I don't remember why. Then, when my child with multiple food allergies came along and I struggled to make gluten free pancakes, I pretty much gave up on them completely, especially after they were old enough to tell me they don't even like pancakes. Also, gradually, I realized how much better I feel having a protein rich breakfast, so I have scrambled eggs and veggies for breakfast every morning now, ever since 2014. If I do make pancakes or have some other kind of carb, I still have eggs for the protein. The last few times I've made pancakes, they were for dinner.
@michelepixels Pancakes were never a breakfast meal for me growing up. Always dinner for us! The only time I can remember having any type of breakfast meal earlier in the day was on weekends and then it was more of brunch instead of breakfast. My dad was up and out of the house before I ever got up because he worked construction and usually had to drive 1 to 2 hours to get to the job site so we never had breakfast together during the week. And, his breakfast was Wheaties. Never changed in all the years he worked. I'm like you that if I do eat a big breakfast, I prefer eggs and sausage. In fact I think I prefer my pancakes later in the day. Heck, I eat scrambled eggs for dinner quite often.
Totally missed pancake day and I am not happy about it! There is nothing better than some fluffy buttermilk pancakes.
honestly I am not a huge pancake fan! I know.. *gasp*.. I prefer waffles over pancakes any day.. but.. I do love the giant apple stuffed pancake from the original pancake house.. and I love chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream! or berry syrup. ... or other tasty flavored pancakes like banana nut or fruity things.. and of course I need a big side of bacon , sassage or ham
My hubby always makes pancakes (usually the bisquick ones) on Saturday morning. It's his thing. The kids like regular maple syrup, fruity syrup, sometimes we'll have fresh berries, some like peanut butter and some like them plain! Sometimes, for a special treat, he'll make chocolate chip pancakes. For myself I usually make an oatmeal/egg white pancake just to have more protein and be more filling. I like to either top it with butter and maple syrup or bananas and peanut butter.
we only have pancakes every few months, mostly in school holidays (sometimes i'll make pikelets -little puffier pancakes for the kids to take for recess with some jam sandwiched between them) but this is us as well and how DH and i used to eat them as kids, but once in a while once in a while, with some drips of maple syrup
I have eaten way too many pancakes the last few weeks. No good for my waistline. I like my pancakes simple served with lemon and sugar, figs and honey, just honey. My son on the other hand loves them smothered in chocolate spread.
@keepscrappin i like my just as you described (buttermilk, blueberry, butter and syrup YUM) ... and with my daughter not eating eggs, we use that Krusteaz mix too.
