January 17 - Acrostic Challenge I can't believe we are past the halfway point of January already & can't believe that I get to host another challenge for this crazy MOC!! As I was making this post I realized I hosted Day 17 last year too. I seem to like to pick ones that I have a harder time using on my everyday pages, last year that was journaling, this year it's back to ALPHAS! (Because I love them, but always forget to utilize them!) Today we are going to focus on ACROSTICS as our challenge & use alphas. An ACROSTIC is a poem in which the first letter of each line spells out a word or message. For my sample page I picked the word CREATE: Crafting Reality Enjoying Art Trying Everyday Each letter of my base word is the beginning of a word or sentence related to my subject. For ease with my rules I'll call these "POEM WORDS". Because this is for the MOC I'm limiting word choices, so you'll need to choose ONE of the following 3 words for the base of your Acrostic: CREATE, FAMILY, or COMEDY. Acrostic Challenge Requirements: 1. Choose CREATE, FAMILY, or COMEDY for your base word. 2. You must use an ALPHA (not a font) for your Base word, and it MUST be LARGER than the poem words chosen for each letter. I want to be able to immediately see the word separate from the poem. 3. The first letter of your FIRST poem word must come from your base word, (sentences are okay in your poem as long as the first word of the sentence comes from the base word). 4. Each letter of the Base Word and its accompanying Poem Word must be displayed directly next to each other. This is what makes it an Acrostic. 5. No other journaling so the full Acrostic can be the star! (dates are ok) For my layout I used CREATE & used Kim Jensen's Ameline bundle, including her alpha, to highlight it. I created a second layout with the word FAMILY to show sentences with the acrostic vs just a single word to give an idea. Iowan also used the word CREATE on her photoless page: The Rules In Summary: 1. Base Word is: CREATE, FAMILY, or COMEDY 2. Base Word is an ALPHA that is LARGER than Poem Words 3. 1st letter of Poem Words are taken from the Base Word 4. Base Word letters & accompanying Poem Word/s are next to eachother 5. No additional journaling (dates are ok) Can be with photos or photoless. I hope you'll enjoy this challenge! General Requirements: In addition to the individual rules for this challenge, please follow our overall guidelines: Your page must be a new page in order to count for the Month of Challenges. Your page must be posted in three places: Uploaded to the TLP Gallery (not an outside hosting site). Posted in your page thread you created in the MOC Layouts Folder. Please do not comment in the participants’ page threads so we can keep them clean. Posted in this thread. People can comment here if they wish. If you use product from other stores, your pages must contain at least 75% current Lilypad product (currently for sale in the store from either permanent designers or guest designers).
Oh this was a lot harder than I thought. But I loved the challenge. I chose Family: F - Feast A - All together M - Memories I - Inspiring L - Lots of food Y - Yours & Mine
Thank you for this challenge as I always enjoy using my daughter's yearly photo on a MOC challenge page.
I chose the word FAMILY. This is a generation pic captured on 1-16-21 at Shelby's drive by shower - another cold, windy but no rain! But so cold...hence the bundled up! This is my dad, me and Shelby. I used Kim Jensen's Woodland Friends; no template used.
