Would you rather live on a boat, a mountain or an island? And why?

I have this dream that someday I will live on an Island....I can photograph destination weddings and just chill on the beach with a cocktail....how about you?

Island, so I could look at the ocean everyday, watch the sunset and then run to other side and watch it rise. I would live off the avocado tree and fruits and vegis that grow and fish that jump into my nets! I would crochet and listen to the wind in the trees and love life

Definitely a mountain. Our new house is on a pretty high elevation and we can see the foothills of the Ozark Mountains from our front porch. I love looking out at the vistas and we can still go into "civilization" if we want or need to. I took this picture yesterday from our front porch. You can see how far down the roads are.

If the boat is a cruise ship = a boat.
It will take me to interesting ports, including islands and mountains.
~ I wouldn't have to worry about what to make for supper.

Probably none of the three...my choice would be in the heart of a major city such as NYC or London. At heart, I love the urban life.

That is so interesting to know. I used to be an urban girl, but now I don't like big cities...the noise, smell, and crowds make me very anxious.

An island with a bridge to the mainland. Hilton Head, S.C. would be my "dream" place to live. Love the beach but also like to be able to get to "civilization" when I want something.

The mountains - love the cooler summers and the likelihood of snow. Plus I love trees.

Yep, I could get on board with this idea too

I’m probably much the same though maybe less huge city but definitely urban. In my case because I don’t drive I need public transport and taxis/uber to get around, living in an urban setting is the only choice I really have. My ideal scenario would be somewhere where it takes me 30 odd mins to get anywhere by public transport.....where I am currently it’s roughly an hour to an hour and a half but the trade off is cheaper rent with family so I survive

An island because I've always loved ocean animals.

None of those strongly appeal to me, but if I had to choose only from one of those three, I'd think of climate change flooding and choose the mountain.

I've been living in a place that was rural before I moved here 20 years ago and has been growing rapidly. But it doesn't function well as a city so we have awful traffic, no sidewalks, etc. We'll probably stay here until our kids all fly the nest but my dream is to move somewhere I can walk to the park, on trails, to the library, restaurants, and stores. I enjoyed that life for 3 years in the apartment where we lived in Glendale (Los Angeles county) before we moved here and it was wonderful!

That's tough. I love the ocean but I don't feel like a beach girl - I feel like a mountain girl. It's probably because it's where I live. I do love hiking the mountains, the views, etc... But the beach is so relaxing.

I would love mountains... and if I could be lakeside I would be in heaven!

I grew up really close the beach, and I've worked in NYC and live so close, that mountains became my favorite!

My fantasy escape is a little cottage/cabin on a lake, in a heavily forested area that is actually within 2 hours' drive of a medium- to large-sized city.

Of these three options, I would choose mountain. A boat would feel too claustrophobic, and an island would feel too isolated (unless there's a bridge to the mainland?).

@AJK your mountain pics are awesome and awe-inspiring!

Once my kids are out of high school (and I've got awhile considering the youngest is in first grade!), my dream is to move to/retire in Tennessee so I can have a lake house & mountains & all 4 seasons but not as much snow as we get all the way up here.
