Hi everyone, Dalis here with a pretty simple but powerful trick. Start loving (even more) your word arts! Have you ever bought a kit or an element pack and you wish you could modify slightly a Word Art (WA)? Or buy a date pack thinking it was a number pack? (Like I DID!) I am here to tell you we can modify those WA in no time (at least most of them). I got this super cute date set thinking for a moment that it was a number pack. I was ready to add my age (38) to the page when I realized my problem. Yep, no #38 because there are no month that has 38 days. I immediately started doing my super simple modify trick and then I realize, wait this is a great TRICK… so here it is! Ready? Wondering about credits for this page? Go to this BLOG POST.
Your welcome, I do this all the time, changing words in word arts. My usual is to change "boy" to "girl", since my girl is a tomboy and I use a lot of boy kits for her.
I'm looking for new digiscrapping inspiration in the TLP Learning forum. I'm going through these 237 Learning forum posts, learning and practicing and scrapping more! This technique isn't actually new to me, but I like starting things easily. I modify Lynne Grieveson's Stitched Down Dates all the time because I scrap a lot of things that happened long ago. Another thing I do is flip the duplicated number and rotate it so it looks a bit different than the original.
I do this all the time too! In fact, I did it on the layout I just posted a minute ago. I cut off summer on goodbye summer and I took off the beginning of the quote to leave i'm finding myself.
Great tutorial! I've done this myself, especially with date elements that didn't have the right year that I needed.n Great way to extend the use of our supplies!
What a blast from the past!!!! I still do this so often. I sometimes feel a bit guilty doing this if I am using something to promote a specific kit because I don't want to "trick" anyone, but this shows the flexibility of the kits. LOL!!!
I love seeing this post resurrected! It's a trick that stands the test of time no matter the program! I've grabbed Document Your December number packs before and had the 'why do they stop at 31?' thought after unzipping & then that 'well d'uh' realisation moment. It took me a while to get the brainwave that said just stick the '20' & the 'whatever teen' number next to each other to make the relevant year for the date of the photo. (my brain can't fathom thinking forward past 2031!)
You were so right @Dalis.....once you start, theres no stopping, its so much fun. I think I've done some sort of modification on most of my more recent layouts
