Hello!!!!! A bit later than I thought I would be able to get this started, but here I am!!! Thank you hugely to everyone who scrapped for July's Muse, your creativity is wonderful!!!! For this month, thanks to the brain and leadership of the Art Journal Champion that is our @Dalis, (I have to admit I am not very good at turning up with ideas in the past few months!) we will explore Flora and Fauna. For this first week we get to create based in OUR ANIMAL. I put together a Pinterest Board as inspiration, your starting point, but you should create letting your mind and heart go for it!!!! You can choose from different approaches: 1. The animal you would like to beThis could be any animal, including those mythical, mermaids and dragons, unicorns... Any animal that you feel you would love to be. 2. Your Spirit Animal The most popular knowledge for the public (on the English speaking world at least) comes from Native American tribes, but many civilizations, both extinct and present time ones, around the world connect humans with animals, maybe you would like to explore a bit more about this and go for creating a page about it 3. Any animal that you feel connected or have history with (BUT not necessarily identify yourself with) 4. Your Chinese Horoscope Animal You can see what animal you are on this horoscope in the image bellow and maybe choose to read more about it, you can do so HERE Hope you will join us and enjoy this week creating!!! I will bring a page as soon as I can, I haven't been very well but didn't want to let anyone down, so I maybe a bit slower than usual!!! Can't wait to see the pages you create!!!!!!!!! PS: Please remember to follow The Lilypad's Gallery rules :S: Layouts must contain at least 50% TLP products. (Templates count as 15%.) Uploads must be less than 250k. List all credits; no off-site linking allowed.
thank you for the inspiration Cynthia @MrsPeel I choose the butterfly but I could made a page with my chinese zodiac too (if I've time I'll make a page about that)
I must be a little bit crazy as I am back for more! I have never endevored to do Art Journaling at any other site or for anyone else. You gals must be very, very special!
Kim, the gal who does the calendar image, is having some computer troubles. Krista added the August lineup to the bottom of the July thread for the time being. https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/july-2020-chats-and-scraps.72123/#post-1267153 HTH
Fun! I am trying to start scrapping a bit with Affinity Photo (never done it before) and I am planning to use this as my guinea pig layout. We'll see how that turns out.
It's a very cute kit that has some constellation references (some of course are animal related)!!!! It's gorgeous!!!!!
I sat and relaxed tonight and got my vision on my computer. Without a doubt, my Spirit Animal is the wolf. Always has been. I feel this unexplainable affinity toward this glorious creator. Thank you, Cynthia, @MrsPeel for giving us such a powerful challenge.

TEXT: As a white American woman, I doubt I can appreciate the depth of meaning this tradition has in its original cultures. I feel a bit awkward even giving it a try. So I decided to come at it in my own, personal, unique way; not meaning to imply any profound spiritual or cultural resonance. I chose some creatures that amuse me. I found an old page that both amused and had meaning for me. And I chose two animals that I’ve encountered, personally or metaphorically, that seem to speak to and about me: the badger and the porcupine. *********************** I found this on my hard drive while preparing a new page for an "animal" art journal prompt at The Lilypad. I still feel a resonance with the same animals, so they are included on my new page. And I still feel the same dissonance regarding "cultural appropriation". How am I to identify, and claim, the symbolism of certain animals in my own psychology, without violating the cultural traditions of other peoples?
