Hello ladies! Welcome to the Rachel Jefferies July 2020 challenge! Without further ado, congratulations to the lucky winners of last month's challenge: the winner of $10 is @Trish and $6 is @mywisecrafts. Rachel will be in touch with your coupon codes via PM asap! Well, things are still a little confusing in the world right now, there’s so much going on, so, we decided to do an easy Mixed Media Challenge this month – a product challenge! Rachel has a very unique style in her products, and we can always see a lot of realistic elements, because she actually creates them in real life. So, this month the requirement is to create a page using at least 5 pieces of paper scraps, plus some messy threads and some stitching. Most of her kits/collections have torn papers, torn tags, paper scraps, paper trim, some kind of stitch and messy threads. I always use those items on my pages, but I know that 5 pieces of paper scraps can be a challenge, so think that you can use them to create a cluster under a photo, on the corners, to add a date to your page or maybe create your own collage paper using some paper scraps found in Rachel's Kits ... Please, note that you are NOT supposed to use pre-made paper clustered elements, or ready made collage papers to count towards your paper scrap pieces. Nor the Thingamajig templates where the paper pieces are already arranged for you, even if they are created by Rachel. We want YOU to arrange the required paper pieces on your page, and please note where you used them on your page within your credits list. If you'd like to see one of the places where Rachel finds inspiration to create her paper collages, she gave us the link from her Pinterest board for Collage Art: https://www.pinterest.de/racheljefferiesdesigns/art-collage/ You are not required to use the following products, but here are some of Rachel's items that may inspire you: Messy threads and stiching: https://the-lilypad.com/store/Rachel-Jefferies/?catid=16 And here is the inspiration from the Captivating sistas: by me: by @marijke by @DivaMom96 by @mrsashbaugh by @mcurtt by @ArmyGrl by @ajm so: Challenge Requirements: Create a page or Project using the required products: at least 5 pieces of paper scraps, plus at least one messy thread and at least one piece of stitching. Do not use pre-made paper clusters etc. here as noted above. Your layout must use 100% Rachel Jefferies Designs currently available in the TLP store (collaborations, including Rachel’s Mixed Media Monthly and Add-Ons count). A few elements from Rachel’s retired products are permissible but should account for less than 10% of your layout. Upload your layout to the Rachel Jefferies Designs Gallery at TLP. For your challenge entry to be counted, you MUST reply to this thread with your finished layout. Please link your thread layout to your gallery. I'd like to see brand new pages, so no double-dipping with other challenges. Please note in your credits list where we can find your five pieces of paper scraps. New Release Bonus Entry! If you use one of Rachel’s products released in July 2020 (a new release, M3, BYOC and even SOSN released in July 2020 count) you will get a bonus entry for a chance to win the $6 coupon (should you not be the $10 winner). Please let me know if you are eligible for the $6 entry by stating “New Release Bonus Entry” when you post in the forum. The challenge will be open through July 31st when a random participant will win a $10 coupon to Rachel's shop. The winner will be announced when August challenge is posted. Any questions? Please respond to this forum and tag me @Ferdy
Here is my sample layout. I loved looking at all the paper pieces in the kit and finding ways to layer them.
Congrats to both @Trish and @mywisecrafts !!! Here is mine, links back to my gallery with complete credits.
Here's my page - the photo isn't the best but went to well on the page that I had to use it. Papers used from top to bottom: Make Art and Journal Lovers, Wing Unfolded, Make Art and Journal 1, Oh What Wonder, and Make Art and Journal 1.
I'm not usually much of a mixed media scrapper. But this layout reflects the state of our country (USA) on the 4th of July, 2020. Most of the paper pieces are symbols of the media flooding we are subject to. Chaotic, confused and conflicted -- that about does it. I envision the closed eyes lady praying that God would have mercy on our nation! New Release Bonus Entry - used items from Wings Unfolded.
