Because of 2 recent treads HERE and also HERE Both about how many times we use a kit, if there are kits we never used, and in general how we chose to store or make our kits ready for easy use when we scrap, - plus the last weeks of activities here at the pad ,where I am sure most of us bought ( or got freebies) even more kits , and today in the store when I bought 3 new ones with my coupons it had me thinking. So I have decided that for the rest of the year, for the challenges I will use 1 designer pr month, and check all the kits I have from that person. - with the exception of the Byoc - It seems easier than trying to look at everything all at once to see if I have used it , and tag it.... ( mind you in the case of NBK and Lynn G. maybe not ) I think it could be a fun challenge , within a challenge so to speak. Would any one like to join me , for a bit of moral support ?
I too tend to go back to my favorite designers, forgetting I have great kits from other designers. However, I don't always have enough kits to do an entire month's worth of challenges with their kits. So I would accept the challenge of using 1 different designer per challenge, where that one was a designer someone other than my favorites.
I like this idea and I like @BevG Bev’s idea, but I use templates 99.9% of the time and need to use different designers each month for CT work. I could however only use 1 template designer and 1 kit designer for the different challenges.
I think this is a great idea, Vivi. I'll try to play a bit. I'm also guilty of not using certain kits that I buy.
For a couple of months either last year or the year before, @Dalis had an informal challenge to take the template from the monthly challenges and use it in each of the challenges (except BYOC). That was fun, but it depends on the template/other challenges because sometimes they just don't work together. I have challenged myself sometimes to take a template pack and a kit that I've purchased and do pages with all of the templates all using the same kit but trying to maximize different looks/versatility of the kit.
I was thinking of that template challenge about a week or so ago. I was thinking that might be fun to bring back. LOL!!! The "REUSE TEMPLATE" Challege, that's what I called it! Oh I like this idea Vivi! I can't stick to just one designer per month, but I can do one designer per challenge. That is challenging to me already! LOL!!!
Here is one using @LynnG 's products only. I have one more page, but I have to wait for SOSN to post... btw. It is LynnG's products too. LOL!!!!
Here’s one I did for May’s template challenge. Free template by Rachel Jefferies and older kit by Allison Pennington.
I did it ! YEAH it was a lot of fun , Her kits are great ! And I am definitely going to do all the challenges with 1 designer next month too.
This is why I love the Love Our Designers event after MOC. It is the perfect challenge to find kits you haven't used, to organize your supplies, to shop and to scrap! I wish we would do it twice a year. On a monthly basis I try to use the BYOC for all of the challenges. It is so versatile and I spend quite a bit each month so I need to use it.
Here is my last page for this month, it also uses Paula Kesselring's products. It is a good idea to use the BYOC too, @wvsandy .
I've been enjoying reading the ideas in this thread. It's giving me food for thought, I try and limit myself to one designer per challenge, but I do have some fave elements that I just keep going back to LOL.
@Claire Grantham yes that was the bit I found the hardest, not because my Paula K kits didn't have what I needed, but because when I was doing a page often I remembered an element or a paper from one of my most used kits, and I couldn't just pop it on...
