Raise your hand if you really, really need to get into your stylist to have your hair cut and/or colored. I do! I'm okay with the length, but boy are those gray hairs showing. Even though our state has opened up hair salons, I haven't been able to get an appointment yet. I guess I'll have to keep spraying on the root touch up until I can get in.

I've been using this one by Clariol when I go out and about.

Have you done any DIY haircuts, coloring, etc to get you through?

I'm SO glad that I do my own hair now! I haven't been to a salon for about 2 years. My hairdresser left and moved back to Ohio so I decided to just let mine grow. She told me how to color it and I even order the professional color and do it myself. I feel for everybody who has been put in a tailspin over their hair, though!

I've been DIY for over two decades now. About six years ago, hubby talked me into learning how to do his hair too. I also cut both my daughters' hair, but we all have straight hair--nothing fancy.

Hair salons are the first thing that opened up here, 3 weeks ago! I don't feel like going yet, I'm still scared. :( I usually go twice a year, for a haircut and a good dye. In between I dye my roots at home; it's never perfect but at least *I* don't see the grays. Now with DD at home all day, I have been able to do it only once during the last three months. And yes, I use a similar product a lot! And I am really tempted to cut my own hair.

I normally do my own hair color anyway, but I don't like to do it when my hair is too long because I have a LOT of hair and it's just too much to deal with. I am waaaaay overdue for a cut. I like to keep it in the chin length vicinity, grazing my shoulders at the longest. Right now it's an inch or two past my collar bone and my very gray "roots" are down to my earlobes. :P No, it didn't get that out of control in the last two months :lol; I had just deeply procrastinated for ages, and about when I decided I couldn't take it anymore and needed to go get it cut is when the pandemic hit. So now I am just putting up with this hot, heavy, unruly mop until I feel comfortable going back to the salon.

I need to get a haircut but am not in a super big rush to do so yet, if I get an interview then it will be a priority but right now it’s not.

My appointment is in 6 days 19 hours and 38 minutes :giggle I think I calculated that right...next Tuesday at noon! I am sooo looking forward to it! I haven't been since January 2nd and I am almost a brunette haha. I wish I could get some grey hairs, then maybe it wouldn't look so bad, but it's like 3 or 4 inches of dark brown and then blonde. I get my hair highlighted pretty heavily and not all over color, so I don't try it myself.

Been 15 months since my last haircut. I had long hair in 2016 and cut it short at the end of that year. I actually got tired of having to go get haircuts more often and since the gal I used only worked 3 hours a week, it was hard to get in. So when I couldn't get her to cut my hair in April for other reasons, I just chose to let it grow out.... even my bangs. I can't remember the last time I had no bangs! I'm past the horrible stage of growing it out and liking it.

As for color... well, I gave that up many years ago in 2011. Having to color my hair every 4 weeks (professionally yet to boot) and it not keeping the color was a drain on both me and the pocket book. Then when I had a reaction to it on my neck, I decided it was time to let it go. Took less than a year for it to grow out but I don't regret it at all.

I'm SO ready to get my hair cut and highlighted. I'm more concerned with my hair being trimmed than the highlights. My hairdresser has almost matched up my gray with the highlights, so when it starts growing out, it's not that noticeable. Here's my hair almost 2 weeks ago.

We've done nothing. And, due to a spike in cases last week, Ontario will not be loosening its quarantine restrictions for another few weeks. We're gonna wait it out, and then before September, Naomi, Ruth and I will all donate our hair through Chai Lifeline Canada. It's similar to locks of love.

Meanwhile... my husband, Jesse "no one cuts my hair but Amir" Feldstein is threatening to go back to Grade 13 (it was a thing in Ontario pre-2000) dreadlocks. His hair is super thick, and growing super fast.

Normally my hair is short and curly on its own so I only had to wash it and let it dry. God and time have done my hair color for quite a few years and even though I'm wistful about the reddish brown I used to have...my hair grows quickly and I always had roots! I colored it myself after I'd gone to a German training school here in the US where I got it all for FREE! cut, color, streaks etc. Finally the Germans came and saw what the school was doing and they set down rules that they'd do what needed testing on 'customers' and you'd take it or leave it. I left...but the stylist gave me the formula she used so I was set. It was a G****well school if anyone knows those products.

But now, it's been almost 3 months since my hair was trimmed & I had two stylists that cut my hair. One moved on to a new salon, the other finally just retired. I had decided I'd let it grow and wait a year or so to see if we had another COVID19 outbreak because the growing out is rough. I'll revisit the decision come October or so. My hair now? It's thick and has a mind of its own and I have those wretched wings above each ear. It never lies down so I may have to learn to use a curling iron to smooth it into some shape. I am not happy.

I've always done my own color, and it is time for that. I cut my hair once since late Feb. and it has grown back out and I can't do a thing with it! Really! It should be just an inch or so below chin line.

Today we went out and I put it in a bun for the first time in like 20 years!!! LOL. Our state just opened salons last week, so I haven't done anything yet. Don't know how many here are open yet. Guess I better get on it. :)
@Juliestcyr your husband's story made me laugh!
I have a story about CV hair and my 85 year old Daddy. I am doing a page with it!

I just had to get mine cut, thankfully my neighbour agreed, (she has a salon from home) we only have hair salons opening at level 1 and we are only moving to level 3 on the 2st of June, so level one could be in 2 months time? I don't need to colour, as I have few grey hairs and quite frankly at this stage in my life - I feel I have earned them.

My hair is longish (little past my shoulders) and curly so I can go a long time without a hair cut and it's not too bad. I don't straighten or curl my hair and I barely use a hairdryer, so my hair stays pretty healthy. Now... the greys are everywhere, so I do like to do my roots. :giggle Thankfully my hairdresser sends me home with a batch of the professional color and showed me how to do my own roots, so I can go a longer time between appointments. I had just gotten a cut and color the day before they shut down hair salons, and I've colored my own roots twice since then, so I'm good for now... BUT I ran out of my coloring supplies, so I could be needy soon. :giggle

My fringe is so long now that I can tuck it behind my glasses. It was really annoying for absolutely ages until I could do that - in my eyes and tickling my face. So seeing my hair dresser seems a little less urgent than it did 2 weeks ago. Not seen her since before Christmas. We were due a trim mid February, but the teenagers needed length for their quiffs for the school show. So we delayed util afterwards. i wish I'd done mine on time. Our autism specialist hairdresser comes to the house. She got sick the day before our appointment, and then once she was well, my husband was sick and then lockdown hit.

I don't have grey or roots but it's almost bald on top (thanks, PCOS!) so while I'd like a trim, the volume on the bottom balances out the lack thereof on the top so... ?! I'm currently using Overtone colored conditioner in Ginger every few days for a fun auburn tint.

Don't be jealous. I have no grey hair yet! My mom is in her early 60s and still has no grey hair. My grandmother didn't have grey hair until her late 60s. So I'm hoping it's hereditary. And I usually only go to the salon about once a year for a haircut for a trim. So...I haven't even though about hair. LOL!

My mom wanted grey hair so badly and was very jealous of her sister who hated hers! I had more grey hair at 56 than she did when she died at age 64. Heck I had more grey hair (if I hadn't colored it) in my late 30's than she did when she died. I must have got it from my dad's side of the family. Lots of grey in that family at younger ages (and all the girls colored their hair for many years).

    You're so lucky!
I noticed my first gray hair when I was 16. It didn't bother me until 7 years ago, when I was 33; I freaked out and started coloring it.

You're so lucky! I don't have much gray yet, but I do have some in the front along my part. It started showing about 3 or 4 years ago. I think I was 44 or 45 when it came in and because my natural color is so dark it shows enough to bother me. I don't go in to have it colored as much as most do. I usually only go in about every 4 or 5 months. I had it colored in December so I'm way overdue.
