Welcome to the May Photography Challenge! There was a time when I was largely unhappy with my photos. There was my subject, centered in the frame, lost in the surroundings, sigh... It took me a while to realize that just by moving closer or shooting from a different angle or not centering the subject, I could get more interesting photographs. This month, let's focus on getting closer and filling the frame with the subject. I grabbed this definition from the web: In photography terms, the frame refers to the edges of the photograph or your cameras viewfinder, so filling the frame means to make the subject(s) a significant part of your final photograph. Here are some examples. Below is a photo of a hydrangea clipping on my dining table. It's fine, but it has to compete with the surroundings. (Not to mention I don't want to highlight that huge crack in my table! ) I took another shot of the hydrangea clipping. By simply moving closer to my subject and allowing it to fill the frame, the hydrangea becomes the star. Here's another example using photos of my eldest daughter. There's nothing wrong with the first photo. However, if I really want your eye drawn to my subject then getting closer and filling the edges of the frame is a great way to do it. In the second photo I get greater details and a better sense of my daughter's mood. So this is your challenge! Fill the frame! Scrap that photo! You may have other photos on the page but at least one needs to conform to the challenge. Here's my page: Can't wait to see what you come up with! Gentle Reminder: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the May Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).

For this page I used Forever Joy's kit called Wild at Heart and nothing else. I wanted my son's face to be the shining star here and I think I've achieved that. I adore this photo.
