First time grandma! She just found out a week ago and got the sonogram and is 21 weeks along with a boy!!! I need to figure out what I am going to be called. Grandma's give me your best names.....
I am just "Grandma" and I like it. Congratulations and I hope all goes well with the pregnancy and birth.
Nana(one set calls me that) Lita(for abuelita) my spanish and oh so wonderful momma to my 1 year old Reya who is blessed to be bilingual but you won't care what they call you, just to snuggle and stare at the wonder! congratulations and woot woot!
Congrats that's awesome. We have Nana's and Oma's in our family. My Mom was plain Granny or Gam-gams. (after the movie the Proposal)
Plain old Grandma for my mom's side of the family. My dad's side was Granny. Jay's family used Grandma, Nanny, and Nana.
Ohhhh congratulations!!! Being a grandma is the best thing ever! I am Nana My mom is Grammy, and we also have had a Nini, a Mimi, and a Mamaw. I have friend who is Gigi.
So happy for you. Three of ours call us Grandpa and Grandma. The 4th couldn’t say those and started calling us Papa and Gran. That stuck with her and the following nine!
Congrats to her! My mom did not want to be called Granny. That was her one request, but I honestly don't know why. Thankfully for her, my kids settled on Grammie, so that's settled.
Congratulations! When I was growing up, I called mine Grandma/Grandpa Lastname when referring to them or just Grandma/Grandpa when speaking to them directly. DH's family does Grandma/Grandpa Firstname, which I rather like as it feels much more endearing somehow (and it helped avoid confusion since DH's parents were divorced and his dad remarried). That's what we had our kids do and no one suggested otherwise. I had never heard of all these variations until a few years ago, but I love how much personality and affection they convey. Have fun choosing!
My kids call my mom 'mamaw.' My daughter started it and it just kind of stuck. The other kids just call her Grandma. She now has a great grandchild and is hoping he will call her Gigi. My kids called my grandparents nana and papa. We just called them Grandma and Grandpa.
CONGRATS, Sharon!! your world is about to change. There aren't words to explain what Grands do to your heart. Mine call me "Ama" : first 3 letters of my name and in Spanish it means she( or he) loves. I just couldn't embrace the g-word yet, LOL!
Oh the joy ahead of you Sharon! I'm Nana or Nannie Maureen though I'm not sure why I got the latter because my xh's current wife wanted nothing to do with the usual names and insisted on Mum. She felt she was too young to be a grandmother and sadly doesn't see the grands anyway. Such a loss. Dick is usually Grandpa Dick or sometimes PopPop from the 13 year old.
