Some of you may have heard on your news stations that parts of Australia are suffering badly with bush fires. I woke up this morning to nice blue skies thinking the fire close to our town was under control ( we had smoke haze the last two days) but sadly I discovered that is not the case. The fire is still out of control but with the hot winds blowing today the fire is travelling south east of us. As long as the wind does not change our town should be safe. Two towns - one 15 minutes drive from us and one 25 minutes away have both been evacuated as they are in the possible path of the fire. Those who pray.... please pray for the fire fighters who have to battle these fires. There have been 3 deaths in areas further south of where I live and approximately 150 homes are gone. The fires are not just in my state of New South Wales they are also in Queensland the state north of us.
So scary! Hope everyone keeps safe and they are brought under control soon without any more people and homes hurt!
Sending BIG hugs and prayers your way. Fires are so scary. I hope everyone can stay safe and they can get the fires under control quickly.
I was just reading about the fires. So scary!! My thoughts and prayers are with you and everyone affected!!
Saying a prayer for you and your country! that kind of devastation can come so quickly it's terrifying I'm sure.
I hope what I heard this morning by Gladys B (premier) on the radio that all the fires have been down graded & about the cool change is true for your area too A-M, I'm sure it's been devastating to your towns & landscape & I hope the worst is behind us & that your air quality is better today too, but that it's already bushfire season when it's only Nov is scary
Some are downgraded but still not fully under control. Tomorrow when I go to my volunteer work in Aged Care I will find out how the main person I work alongside of has faired. Her home is right where the fires have moved to today.
The woman I work with is safe. She did have to evacuate but her home is okay but still in the danger area. The news is good for our town as the fire presently is moving south so in the opposite direction to our town and it is heading into areas that are very sparsely populated. I thought I would share the update on our Rural Fire Service website: A bush fire is burning near Bungawalbin, New Italy and The Gap. The fire is more than 5,200 hectares and is out of control. Current Situation The fire in burning in the area of Bungawalbin and Yellow Creek. Northerly winds are pushing the fire south towards New Italy, Donaldson, and Doubleduke State Forest. The Pacific Highway is open, but visibility may be reduced due to smoke. Stay up to date with Live Traffic NSW.
