Not only Microsoft but also a federal agency has warned users about this. If you use either of these systems it is seriously time to upgrade either of these systems. Windows 8 and 10 don't appear to have these vulnerabilities. TechConnect article
I need to tell DH about this. He refuses to give up Windows 7 on his laptop . Thanks for sharing, Maureen!
Looks like a reminder to install current patches. Kind of interesting that it was in regards to the ransomware that took control of so many computers worldwide in 2017. You’d think yhey would have checked their older versions for vilnerability then!
I'm one of those die-hards still holding onto Windows 7. Sometimes I think Microsoft is just trying to get everybody to upgrade. @IntenseMagic - I'm wondering what a technie like Randy sees in all this push to upgrade.
He says the same thing. He says there's nothing wrong with Windows 7, and that every issue that pops up is just to push people to upgrade. But that's strictly his opinion and doesn't come from any extensive research . When I mention security stuff, he usually just says he'll take his chances. He hates Windows 8 and 10. He has another laptop that was running 10 and he ended up making it a Linux machine.
@IntenseMagic - thanks for the feedback. Being a former marketing person I understand the behind-the-scenes drive by the company to get everyone upgraded but I'm happy where I am with Windows 7. For now, anyway, I'm sticking with it.
