Your 2nd experience was more in line with what we experienced with Hospice for my Dad.

I am so happy to hear the oncologist is giving you reason for hope! Thinking of you and Dick.

Wow that is a crazy mix of emotions! I am glad there is hope - and sometimes it helps to face the hard facts, deal with the emotions, and then get to replace them for awhile with happier ones. Let's pray that "awhile" is a very long time.

p.s. Your hubby looks cute - a smile really lights up his face.

That photo is just so wonderful, to see him (& hopefully you as well ! ) smile at this stage! Like others have said, that 1st consultant & having to go thru the whole process is unbelievable but I can't help but admire how you are rolling with the change in plans all the time. Speechies are pretty awesome too & will hopefully be a down to earth, plain English speaking liferaft in a sea of medico_speak & help keep that smile on his face!

I love that photo. Dick's smile just wants me to give him a big hug! He is so strong to be fighting this. Knowing he has you by his side must be helping him so much. Sending buckets of love and positive thoughts to you both :beat

What @KarenW said. You seem to be dealing with this so well - what an emotional roller coaster Maureen. I adore that pic - and tell him not to worry one bit of stress about his hair. Who cares! His smile makes that photo! Lot of love to you both!

Actually @Cherylndesigns that was part of the problem. People like an oncologist no longer call the shots. They are 'consultants' to the Hospitalist doctor who signs off for any care and/or change for a patient. Consultants advise but Hospitalists make the final decisions. Many long term specialists now are looking at adapt or retire. I see many more long term doctors in their late 50s retiring which is not good. But it's the system that makes insurance companies happy. :disagree

Boy, things sure have changed, that's for sure. We're in and out of the hospital quite frequently with our youngest DD's problems and it isn't like it used to be. :(
