I have decided to start art journaling!! I have always had a vague interest in it but no real desire until now. Where do I start??
I agree with Michele! Dive in to the Art Journal forum. There are a few tutorials and you can always join in the Monthly Muse Challenges, they are great inspiration! @Tangie Baxter also has a great course Art Journaling for Scaredy Cats that is chock full of great information!
Yup, the AJ forum will be a great place for you. And in case you're like me and didn't realize it...there's an AJ gallery. Lots of inspo there!
Definitely join in on the Monthly Muse challenges! Like everybody said before, I agree that's a perfect place to start. You can always go back and do former challenges. There's tons of inspiration in there.
I love the monthly muse challenges, and also loved Tangie’s scaredy-cat class (great instruction and lots of goodies...AND unparalleled enthusiasm!).
Oooooh heather!!! I am excited!! Your pages always make me smile and I’m gonna be stalking your gallery now!!
Come and play with us in the monthly muse challenges. They are a fun way to experiment and stretch yourself, to just have fun.
so glad you are ready to try art journaling @Heather Prins . It's really easy - you just play, experiment and have fun with your software and your supplies. It can be just an experiment, trying something new, playing with an emotion or a quote that inspires you. It can be clean and simple, or very painty messy or something in between. It can be telling a story, or your response to something. It can be meaningful, or not - it's all about art play. Have fun.
Hi Heather, so glad to see you here! I think you would be great at art journaling, you've got a talent of putting together awesome scrap-booking pages. This would add another level to your art.
Heather, I just started art journaling this year as well. Some pages I love, some pages I feel aren't quite what I had in my head. The Monthly Muse prompts in the Art Journal forum are awesome...waiting for the new weekly prompt can be tough.
the main thing in gallery is to just save less than 250K. It will distort if it is larger....no worries about height and width. again, I am excited to see your creations!
Have fun creating Heather! You have had some great advice from everyone so far and I don't have much to add sorry. For me though when I art journal, I try to remember to relax and let it evolve, and I remind myself that it doesn't have to be a "certain way".
- I second Tangie's scaredy cat class. It was so helpful for someone like me that didn't really understand it all that well. Great class. -Also about the 5x7 size in the gallery. You may want to save it on a white square background. Maybe 8x8 or 7x7? This way the little thumbnail of your 5x7 page isn't truncated when viewing the gallery as a whole (with all the little thumbnails). If you save it 5x7 it will look fine when someone clicks on that thumbnail to view your page - but it will crop down to a square size as a gallery thumbnail. Not a big issue - just something to consider. You may prefer one or the other. -Have fun and nice to see you around Heather!
