Welcome to the Monthly Muse for March 2019!! Week 2 - Book Spines Sorry for my delay on this one! My next spot of inspiration comes from seeing books all lined up in a row. The colors, the strong vertical rectangle designs, the way the titles interact with each other. I thought it would be perfect for a MUSE on books. I also found a neat challenge when I was looking at inspiration photos & that was for something called "Spine Poetry". I added that to the inspiration graphic too in case that's the direction your page wants to take you. I'm thinking mine might be a bit like titling different parts of my life as if they were each different books. We'll see where that idea might take me! I'm really excited to see if you are as inspired by this design as I am. And if you try the Spine Poetry with actual books I'd love to see that too in addition to your page!!! [page coming soon!] Please post your layout to the Art Journaling Gallery HERE prior to March 31st and then post it in this thread by copying the code (at the right of your gallery image) from the box under "Share BB Code". We will draw a winner at the beginning of next month for a coupon!! You can use any products in The Lilypad store or retired products from current Lilypad designers, (just make sure you follow our gallery guidelines). If you have any questions, ask here! Have fun!!!
This was quite fun to do. I had no idea what I'd end up with, but my "poem" naturally gravitated to the flooding in our town. Fortunately for us, we live about 1 1/2 miles away from where this photo was taken yesterday, hence "we were the lucky ones". It reads: A Page Out of Life Here on Earth Flatterland Chance Developments The End of the Road Trapped The Year of the Flood So Big Castle of Water Cane River We Were the Lucky Ones.
I didn't use actual books and I found the haiku on the web, so not as creative as some, but here is my ATC for this challenge:
What a great idea for inspiration..... I am going to see what books I have on our book shelves that I can use for this.
Unique idea! I am SO NOT a reader ( and not a poet either)--- returning to school twice as an adult & teaching burned out that part of me, lol. I still may try...
You definitely don't have to go the poem route! You can just be inspired by the shapes and colors or anything!
I had never heard of Book Spine Poetry but I think could be addictive. Here's mine from my personal library.
This challenge was a riot!!!! Such a cool idea. It reads " An Elderly Lady is up to No Good Are You Really That STUPID? (felt bad about that one, but maybe it could be that the guilty are blaming the elderly lady! lol!) YOU.ARE.THE.ONE. Secrets Never Die Say You're Sorry The Reckoning
Here is my page. It is supposed to be a little poem type thing Music Waves of Listening Oh the Places you'll go Notable Voyager Decline and Fall A Wave Chaos Chaos What have you lost Music
thank you for the muse. I was inspired today, looking at my bookshelves, and how they are all organised by category. My life has different aspects to it that fill my time or my mind. So I created a set of books for each aspect. The spines don't all colour co-ordinate or anything so I pulled papers from different kits my different designers.
What A Brilliant Concept!...I Love Poetry In General!...Spine Poetry!...Great Inspiration! For The Monthly Muse This Month!...Bravo!...Normally I Would Give You A Somewhat Detailed Description Of The Theme & Design Idea For My Layout...But I'm Pretty Sure This Layout Will Be Self-Explanatory & It Will Do All The Talking That Is Needed... *For My Blue Layout-I Used: *Feeling Blue-Pink Reptile Designs *Silent Battles:Negative Thoughts-Rachel Jefferies
I'm away from home and my books so I thought I'd try to make a poem with one of my favorite authors. I used SWL Template Revisited 45 for my book spines.
