Hey everyone! This month we are going to talk about the rule of thirds photography technique. The rule of thirds is probably the most well-known rule. It's also one of the easiest to fake with a good crop if that photo didn't turn out quite right! The idea is that you break an image into thirds horizontally and vertically. Where the lines intersect is where you want to put important elements of the photo. You don't have to be exactly on the intersections, near them works just as well. On my photo, my son's face is in the intersection of the lines. It helps bring the eye right to his face in the photo. Having his body along the line also helps him be the focus. Your challenge is to scrap a photo that uses the rule of thirds. Have fun! Here's my page: Please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery, linked to the February Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a $50 gift certificate from the Lilypad! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges).
Avoided the Slough of Despond (because of MOC ending!), by jumping into the February challenges. The photo is cropped to the rule of 3rds, it's placement is by rule of 3rds, and even the background papers are arranged 1/3 and 2/3. Fun challenge for this "priceless" photo my DDIL took of her youngest two exchanging a hug.
Here's my page I composed the shot with my daughter's eyes on the intersection using the rule of thirds.

The inserted photo of my husband pointing is my "rule of thirds" photo with the focal point the right side upper 1/3 intersection. The background is another of my photos.
I might have 2 photos that meet the criteria - the big one on the left side, and the middle of the smaller photos on the right. left side - right side -
