We live in an area with several bars, so there were people out everywhere. The condo at the end of our alley has a party on their back deck every year that starts around 8am and the bar at the end of our block advertises "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning".
We had a steady stream of people in green and pub crawl trolleys up and down our block most of the day. Driving is like a giant game of Frogger. But we survived and have a whole year until it happens again! :-)

I've put a photo from the wrong year! I just printed out the right one & glued it over the wrong picture. One time the colors didn't print right. It wasn't legible, so Shutterfly replaced it.
Ugh... this was all me! I focused so much on double checking place names, that I totally skimmed over the normal stuff and missed an extra E in the word needed. Oh well. I wish I could have used one of your fixes!

It's a Polish pastry (like a jelly donut). Traditionally it's celebrated on Fat Thursday or Fat Tuesday (to use up all of the good stuff before lent). From wikipedia - with its sizable Polish population, Chicago celebrates the festival on both Fat Thursday and Fat Tuesday.
Most everyone I know celebrates on Fat Tuesday, but a few more recently immigrated families we know do Fat Thursday. I picked up ours last night from the bakery. They're so good, but glad it's just once a year! :-)
It is a powdered cleaner. I think you have Bon Ami or Ajax cleaner. you sprinkle then add a bit of water and scrub
Sooo...in my Amazon order I had a can of Comet and the Feb book club book. The can broke open in shipping so now I have a comet coated book.

@scarletsierra It's Neko Atsume... you basically put out food and treats in your yard and wait for cats to visit. I shouldn't be this obsessed with checking for cats, but sadly, I am. :-/
It sounds like something my daughter would LOVE. She adores cats and all things cat related. I will have to check it out! (Although..maybe I shouldn't. haha!)
It's a little frustrating because there is no interaction... you seriously just put out things and see who shows up. But it's super cute!
Thanks everyone! She had some dehydration due to a stomach bug but we were sent to the ER due to how high her heart rate was. It's coming down now with the fluids but it took five tries to finally get one in. Looks like we've turned the corner though!

My son's high school was evacuated tonight due to a bomb threat. Just got the call, there will be class tomorrow... not sure how I feel.
