So, because I really am lazy, for the past few months I have done a cut and copy. I love how the Pad Patter post have morphed into the coolest titles. That way cool PIPE the | makes it look so uniform. but alas, I kept forgetting to ask, uhm guys? Pollys? How does one make that pipe line, vertical cool line? I googled today. Click in a text document or blank form to place your text cursor. Hold down either "Shift" key. The Caps Lock key won't work for typing the vertical bar or other symbols. Press the "\" backslash key, usually located above the Enter key. On standard English keyboard layouts, this inserts the " | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| <----feel ever so smart! Did you already know? or did you learn it right now! I have known for almost 4 minutes!
I did already know... because in my house, we call it "straight face" when it's an emoji... the look you give someone when you want to smack them for whatever they just said? The lack of expression...
:| <--oh that is funny. see I am not on Facebook nor do I have a smart phone...me and that dude from 24, share a flip phone! bhahhahah
Yep, that's the one... the eye glare, don't blink, can't believe you just said that emoji. Because my husband and I text during the day, he tries to make me laugh with the corny "dad jokes" sometimes (which is great) but sometimes I think he pushed the boundaries of corny, and the jokes are just plain..... not funny. So he gets "straight face" And in real life, too. At home. When he says some that are just.... I can't believe you said that. But not surprised you said it. Straight face...
There are so many fun new emojis. My Co worker and I today were talking about emojis. She just got Disney ones for her iPhone I looked, and Samsung (my phone brand) does also have them available, but I still just use the ones in the phone keyboard. Facebook has "stickers" you can get. I'm pretty late to the emoji scene, actually... my youngest sister posts them on every single thing she posts, across all of her social media platforms... I just don't like that if they don't translate to the other operating systems, there's just a box with an x in it. Always makes me think the person is cursing
I DID know that! It's called "pipe" because that is its function in the UNIX operating system- it tells the OS to "pipe" information from one process to another (for instance, from a text file to the screen). Computer geeks have names for a lot of the symbols on the keyboard. For instance, #? That's not a hashtag to us- it's "pound." ! = "bang" and > = "waka." Seriously, we are crazy people!
Hee hee! Anne you make me giggle! I love that when you learn something new, you immediately come and share it with everyone here.
I also use a Mac, but if you google Windows keyboard, the | is always on the same key as the \, which is near the enter or Backspace key depending on the exact LO.
I have it on my keyboards - Mac at home and Windows at work. I use it often... I like the clean lines. lol!
I knew but I never think to use it | but do you know about the {{{hugs}}} ? On Facebook, you can make all kinds of little figures with different key combos, like <3 makes a heart.
We use pipes to designate between certifications and titles on our signatures at work. Since forever I think.
