So, I finally got myself an Instant Pot. It's been on my wishlist for a long time & it went on sale a few days ago on Amazon.

I'm so excited. I made my menu/grocery list today and went shopping even before I received it in the mail. So, pretty much every dinner next week is going to be made with the Instant Pot. I hope I like it!

Anyone have one? How often do you use it? Any favorite recipes that I need to try?

I must admit my first reaction was "Liz!! Instant POT?! WHAT?!"
LOL!!
:giggle :giggle

It looks freakin awesome!! I just got a Slow Cooker and I love it (and a second one that parents-in-law were going to throw out, crazy people!) but this looks like the best invention ever! You will have to let us know how it goes!

I was also on the "pot" train, because there was a news story on this evening about that. Lol I totally thought "wow, I can't believe we're talking about this!"

Anywho. Instant pot... this is a pressure cooker, yes? I've heard great things about those, though I haven't ever tried one or owned one. I did read about cooking spaghetti squash in it by making circle rings, cooking them super fast, then being able to get long spaghetti like noodles. After I read that article, I refuse to cut spaghetti squash any other way! :giggle

No InstPot here, but I do have a pressure cooker. I love to cook chicken in my pressure cooker. Throw a few breasts in, let it come to pressure, and cook for about 8 minutes (12 if they were frozen). Then toss into my KitchenAid mixer with the paddle beater. Voila - shredded chicken.

I also use it for refried beans. Serious Eats has a great refried bean recipe for the pressure cooker - it's relatively quick, and so tasty!

I don't have an instant pot. I do have a pressure cooker and a slow cooker, but now I don't know the difference between the instant and the pressure. I must go google... and save those recipes.

Lol! This thread cracked me up! I thought the same thing from first glance at the thread title. going to have to check out this instapot thing. I hate cooking and if there's something to make it go faster... I'm in!

I did google, but reading some articles left me confused. Are pressure cookers different from Instant Pots? When I google, I get mixed answers but no one actually states the difference. My mom gave me a Wolfgang Puck one years ago... but I never found recipes that sounded good... and it's in my basement... in the box, almost new.

Someone said it's a slow cooker and pressure cooker? I'm not sure.

Just reading a brief blurb on one pot, it seems like it's an electric pressure cooker which I believe are fairly common in Asia. I know when I bought a pressure cooker about 10 years ago, I saw electric ones advertised but not in the US.
In the US, we seem to have more one-function kitchen items, and having read this review I can see that it would be a good idea esp if you don't have all the other items it can replace.

so I made 9 baked potatoes yesterday in 10 minutes! I left them in the pot for 4 hours...they stayed hot and were the best snack before evening service (my kids love baked potatoes, but I hate heating up my oven).
today, eggs hardboiled I did 12 in 5 minutes! easy peel, done, and ready to go! I love it.
I am gonna do chicken for tacos tomorrow and beans in the afternoon. excited as my kitchen is cool and my food is hot!

I had a regular stovetop pressure cooker a while back & practically killed it. That thing was scary though, always seemed like it was going to blow up. I'd like to try this one.
I was gifted a NuWave, that thing is pretty cool, but I forget to use it. Perfect for candy making though, keeps everything at the exact temp needed.
I also need to scrounge up all the parts to my George Foreman rotisserie. It makes the juciest chicken, but you have to use small chickens. That was the hard part, finding the right size chickens.

so I took 3 chicken breast, one cup of water, taco spices just sprinkled a lot in there, dried onion and garlic and 10 minutes later, I released (vented) the steam and I have chicken breast so moist to shred for tacos tomorrow, I am doing rice right now...jasmine for our chinese chicken spicy schezwan and it says 10 minutes? eek I am a scared but excited...a my rice cooker takes 40 minutes from start to finish.

I got one on amazon prime day, and I have used it a few times. So far ribs have been my favorite!! And I love how fast rice is, faster than the rice cooker. I made some really yummy cilantro lime rice. I also love that I can throw frozen chicken tenders in with whatever liquid and spices and then open my pot and it's perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful! Like magic! The biggest hang up for me is actually using it - I really struggle with meal planning and having things on hand before I need to cook. And I pretty much have to have a recipe to follow because I'm not confident yet on how long things take. I want to get brave and try to make Pho but it seems complicated!
