So, there was a recent question raised about shadowing tutorials and products and I know there are several in the store, forum and blog. I wanted to centralize these so we could get a complete collection for us. Here's what I came up with... Pre-made shadows in the store https://the-lilypad.com/store/Shadow-Like-Me-PU.html https://the-lilypad.com/store/Realistic-Drop-Shadow-Styles.html https://the-lilypad.com/store/My-Shadow-Box-Layer-Styles.html https://the-lilypad.com/store/CU-3D-Lined-Shadow-Actions.html There are shadow styles included in these: https://the-lilypad.com/store/Storyteller-Reed-Digital-Scrapbooking-Kit-Collection.html https://the-lilypad.com/store/Story...le-2016-Free-for-Storyteller-Subscribers.html Tutorial links http://www.lynngrieveson.com/#!Realistic-Shadow-Video-Tutorial/i1ve2/56a987a60cf22a61ccd59f32 http://www.lynngrieveson.com/#!Using-the-Warp-Tool-Video-Tutorial/i1ve2/56b2633a0cf2fb0f6feca5c1 https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/★-tutorial-how-to-rock-your-shadows.36305/#post-593140 https://the-lilypad.com/tutorial-shadowing-doilies/ https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/curling-shadows.32242/#post-507217 http://onelittlebirddesigns.com/2010/03/shadow-files-the-basics/ https://the-lilypad.com/shadowing-tutorial/ I'm sure there are more, so put them here and I'll add them. From the store or a current designer or CT's blog
Peppermint has a fabulous tutorial on her blog that totally changed the way I shadow. http://onelittlebirddesigns.com/2010/03/shadow-files-the-basics/
a second one from Jana: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/realistic-shadow-warp-tool-lynn-grieveson-designs.41279/ I shared a shadow warping action in my member spotlight: https://the-lilypad.com/tlp-member-spotlight-2/ (apparently all the image links are broken from the site upgrade, but the link to the action still works!) Shadow waves: https://the-lilypad.com/shadowing-tutorial/
I loved your shadow wave tutorial and I use that so much. However I have PSE (11) and don't have the option to put shadows on their own layers easily. I bought an action that does that, run it part way through, then add in the wave afterwards. The action is from a different store so I don't know if I can share the designer.
@justjaimee has a couple of different shadow style packs that were released as part of the Storyteller collection both last year and this year. I wasn't able to find them listed separately in her store, but they are part of the Storyteller Reed and Storyteller 2016 Foundations bundles. They are my favorite shadows! https://the-lilypad.com/store/Storyteller-Reed-Digital-Scrapbooking-Kit-Collection.html https://the-lilypad.com/store/Story...le-2016-Free-for-Storyteller-Subscribers.html
The wave tutorial is not by me. I just remembered where it was and linked it here! Just so I'm not stealing credit
Cheryl @gonewiththewind has a video demoing how to put shadows on their own layer in PSE on her Youtube channel: I don't know if you want to get specific, but I do know washi is always a struggle to shadow Peppermint has a great washi shadowing tutorial on her blog: http://onelittlebirddesigns.com/2012/01/digital-washi-tap/ and Cheryl has a video for shadowing washi:
Whoa. I just read that and realized my shadows must look terrible. Now I want to go back and fix the shadows on ALL my layouts that haven't been printed, which is a lot. All this time I've just been using pre-made shadow styles with only a little warping. I feel like a dolt! This tutorial is awesome. Can't wait to try all these things she teaches.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I knew TLP would come through for me. I'm a new digi scrapper and have no idea what I'm doing when I try to shadow… I just click on stuff. (seriously)
Ok guys, I'm lazy and don't want to warp my own shadows. Is there an action that will do this for me? I'm specifically looking for one that will 'lift' the bottom two corners of paper layers. This one's nice but sometimes I'd like a more symmetrical lift, this one often turns out kind of crooked.
Ooh, awesome! I've been lazily shadowing for years, knowing that I could do better. I didn't see this when you first posted it, so I'm glad it popped up again today. I will find some time soon to devote to improving my shadowing, with the help of this thread. Thank you!
I started scrolling through The Learning Pad today to see which Why It Works Polly challenges I'd completed (far too few; I've added them to my monthly challenges document where I keep track of completing them and I'm going to work on a couple of them every month) and I have just kept scrolling and reading some of the other threads. So I came to this one and thought, this should be pinned to the top of the forum!
Hi Michele - These terrific tutorials are already noted in Anne's Tutorial List pinned at the top of the Learning Pad: https://the-lilypad.com/forum/threads/alphabetical-listing-of-tutorials.48074/
@AnneofAlamo can you link re shadowing also the Non LilyPad written ones, but the ones by the designers from their own blogs or no? Just checking. Thanks!
@cfile! That is a great idea!! and shadowing is so huge! I am gonna investigate some of these myself!
